The biological parent (Mother for me). She uses her children so much it hurts. Weapons and shields to get what she wants.

I'd like to know from experienced stepparents, too ! Tell Me please !!!
I am new at all this & need to learn what to be aware of & what I need to do to help us all. fish
A lot of the time I feel I am out of my depth, however I do believe our family unit can survive, despite ours being a very new-start step-partner family. At least the boy of 12 says we are a family unit... fish

For me the hardest part is dealing with the biological mother... at a close second is trying to find a place for me and my daughter in an already formed family unit. they have their own ways of doing things as a family and so do we, and blending the two together is turning out to not be as easy as i once thought.

I would say the hardest thing of being a stepparent for me is trying to communicate with my husband ex-wife.....she has made it very hard to become a family because of her anger towards my husband.........after speaking with her family they are just as confused as the rest of us are.....they feel she could be upset about the divorce...........which was her choice.........her family love my husband and believe she cause the marriage to fall......so she have made it hard for us as a couple to build a friendship with her and she also try to find ways of using my stepson against his father (my husband).....
