My brother was diagnosed with CF many years ago .When I spoke with him last week he told me he is starting a new drug that has been used for narcolepsy for sometime. He did not know the name but I will talk to him when he starts it and let you know...he said it is what Jimmy Kimmel(the latenight TV host) takes for his kind of narcolepsy. Apparently this treatment has been very successful in those who have tried it....

In an interview in Esquire magazine, Mr. Kimmel mentioned that the medication his doctor prescribed was called Provigil.

I am checking with him this weekend...would you like for me to ask him to post directly? I do not know what he would say about that...but if you would like I will ask...

Sorry, I didn't get back to you sooner, Roni. Been a little crazy around. My sister is now sick with FMS and my mom's got some issues with lots of health problems.

He can post if he'd like. Thanks and have a pleasant holiday of your choosing.

I'm very interested in this as well. I have had a great deal of difficulty with falling asleep in the car while driving and my doctor doesn't think it's serious - although I have torn up two cars this past year!

I am taking Provigil for my FM and so far it is working great! (fingers crossed) I have been on it for a bout a month now. I am not nearly as tired in the afternoons and evenings as I was. This seems to be a great new med. for FM. I have not had any side effects other than dry mouth and a little headache at first. I will keep you posted.

Blessings & Healing,
Rhonda

Hi, refering back to reft12 post, I'm wondering if you have any muscle spasms, or stiffness on this meds? It sounds like something that could change my life, but I've had problems with more muscle pain on a couple of other meds similar to this. Thanks. Pattikat4

I'm glad Provigil works great for you, Rhonda. I do urge anyone to check out the FDA warnings on the medication before asking their doctor to change them to it. Every medication affects people differently - just as this syndrome affects us all differently. There's no one size fits all, but Provigil can definitely fit SOME and is worth an investigation.
