Seems Martin Truex Jr. will be on standby for Earnhardt Jr. at Loudon in case the injuries he suffered at Sonoma force him out of the #8 this weekend.

From the way it sounded via our local news, his injuries were quite minor..and that he was looking forward to racing and had no intentions of sitting out..

..but to me, any burn is a major injury and I just hope that Jr. doesn't try to be a superhero and do too much at once.

Who knows what goes on in the minds of standby drivers...!!

He was one very lucky young man!! Burns are awful no matter the degree.

I agree with you!! Latest report I heard/read, is that he's doing well at his home in NC and does plan on racing..so we'll see!!

Wow, I saw the video where the flames flashed across his body. He was seared. I guess a driver who has been in an accident feels he has to get back into the driver's seat; much like a cowboy who falls off his horse, get's back into the saddle again. Perhaps there is a fear factor if you wait too long.

From what I understand, they already wear a layer of fireproof pants but will now have the option to wear two?! And apparently he had one layer on and he's quite lucky his burns weren't any worse than what they were..poor guy. I wish him the best!

I've never really taken a gander at Elliot Sadler, but I like the young'uns <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> (I'm only 25, myself!!)

The news reported last night that Jr. saw some doctors regarding his burns and was given an "OK" to race. They are going to make changes to his car to make him more comfortable (the only one I can remember is some type of air conditioning system..sorry, it was late!!)

The graemlin comes from smiley-central. You can right click their smilies and it will give you the html code. What you do is weed out everything but the url for the graphic...then add the bella tags to the ends. You can get those on the left where it says..UBB Code is enabled.LOL Make sense?
