I found out that in our last prresidential election, an estimated 20 million young women did not vote.
I am flabergasted at this statisic. How is the word getting out to these young women to encourage them to vote? Does anyone have any thing hopeful to tell me about how this is being handled for this years election?

I'm the commander see-I don't need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president.

Unfortunately I know of nothing that could or would compel the uninterested to vote. If the fact that our current president was NOT elected by the majority BUT by the electoral college wouldn't do it then what will? I doubt that many if any of the non-voters are happy as clams about their current lifestyle.... We do have it within our power to intiate change we just have to get off our rumps and do so....

That is utterly ridiculous.

Many do not believe they have any impact, Most women do not think their vote matters, so they dont bother and if you do not participate when you have full opportunity to do so, you cant complain about what you don't like.

If anyone doubts the need to vote, they should watch Iron Jawed Angels, and the incredible trials that some women went through so we can vote.

We forget that they risked their lives and being labeled "insane" fighting for our rights.

Complaining is one thing. Being "responsible for the bad stuff" is quite another.

Considering the American populace are presented with 2 candidates of privilege, and it's not so much about character as it is money and influence, one has to wonder just how "representative" the candidates are.

Perhaps the reason many are apathetic during elections is because they don't like either of the choices...and choose not to vote at all (especially since it's not about popular vote, anyway.)

I know three women a bit older than I. They have never voted. None of their family members nor I have been able to persuade or reason with them otherwise. Yet, they do have the nerve to complain . Go figure...

Paula is right also, the civil rights movement of the 60's was about being able to VOTE among other things... African american women could NOT vote until about 40 years ago....

I really hope young women start voting cause they have a lot of years to vote and get involved and will see the impact their vote makes!
