Hi there, the other night while watching David Letterman, he was having some sort of game with the audience, and on two occasions, the audience member received a prize of an item called "explodeapop" popcorn and David made mention of it being low-carb. I thought I miss heard him the 1st time around, but the 2nd time I am sure of what he said. I couldn't pull up anything on the computer regarding explodeapop and wondered if anyone else had heard of this??

Thanks ~ Michelle

Well, popcorn is simply corn kernels that are dried out. So they can't really be "altered". Normally popcorn comes out to 6g carbs per cup. Corn is a pretty sweet veggie. That being said I eat popcorn QUITE regularly while watching movies here and I don't gain weight. 6g as a snack is a pretty low value.

I've never heard of "explodeapop" and my searches aren't coming up with anything - it sounds like it might have been a joke ... or I mean, popcorn as a snack IS low carb compared to most candy things people eat

Thanks, I appreciate the feed back. And the info on popcorn being low carb is a great thought too. I have not been too willing to have much of it not knowing.

Always check those nutrition labels Luckily just about any processed food you buy will be clearly labelled with its carb counts. Any non-processed food that's common should be listed on the carb counts on my site (apples, oranges etc)
