A recent visitor - me - thought that he would comment to Westcoast: if you look at the top of the page, it does tell you that this is a low-carb forum, so it shouldn't surprise you that the moderator, and others, support that style of eating.

On that note, you may be tired of low-carb preaching (surprise! its a apparently a low-carb forum!), but many of us are just as tired of "balanced diet" preaching, particularly when we're quite happy, and convinced, of low-carb merits.

Not convinced? Read Life Without Bread by Dr. Lutz...

Newcomb: don't go overboard with protein, and make sure the majority of calories are through fats; you'll find your body adjusting over time

well travemunde it is a free world. may i not comment that i tried lo carb and hated it or are only positive happy threads allowed only? i would call that censoring.

i personally don't like getting attacked when i point out what worked for my weight loss... i am now a size eight. if i had said that i lost the weight eating a lb of bacon a day everyone would be thrilled. i lost it eating alot of healthy food including carbs, proteins fats and yes BREAD and i get attacked. lo carb isn't for me or may i not say that here?

Westcoast, where were you attacked? Or did the post simply suggest that you were in a low-carb forum, and that you could look into other sources of information? Where were you censored? No one stopped you from preaching, except to say that some of us may be as tired of preaching as the other...

Lisa, I sent the following in an email link to you - but not sure if it got to you since I didn't receive a response - figured I would copy/paste it into here - thanks!

Hi Lisa (Host),

You mentioned in your post that I was NOT eating enough calories...I will be honest and don't really know the ins/outs of the low-carb...just what I have read.

I guess I need to eat more, but do you have suggestions as to what to read to give me specifics of what is good and what is bad? I don't want to cause any harm to my body.

I started the low-carb diet on 5/2/04 and to date have lost 26 lbs. Just to give you an idea of my "idea" food intake on an average day.

Breakfast:
2 scrambled eggs with cheese & some bacon with either decaf Hot Tea w/a splenda packet or water.

Lunch is:
Salad with Ranch Dressing with Grilled chicken, American cheese, Celery, Radishes, and cucumbers.
with Water

Dinner is: Meat with green beans and possible other veggies with dinner -- depending on family meal....I can venture in Cottage Cheese or some fruit with a Caffeine Free Diet Coke.

During the day while sitting at my desk, I do drink approx. 6-8 glasses of water a day from our office water cooler.

I don't feel sickly at all, but I also don't want to make myself that way either. I only notice really the loss of strength while doing things like blow drying my hair (my arms get really tired). Other than that, I feel and in my opinion starting to look great!

Lisa, I really would appreciate hearing back from you -- it is really important to me. The more information you can give me the better I will be. Please note that I don't ever feel like I am starving myself, I am always full after eating.

I have treated myself once in a while as well with Small piece of cake at a birthday party, or when I went out to eat with family at Wendy's instead of my normal salad, I have had a cheese burger (let me say that my first one was Heavenly - haha). So I do have "things" that are not low-carb every once in a while.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and look forward from hearing from you
