Ok, the scales are telling me I'm losing weight and so are my clothes.

But mean Internet people are telling me that Atkins is a fraud...and I guess I just need some verification. I know these are just head shots...but have I lost weight over the past 6 weeks?

I can tell you that as far as following the clasic Atkins plan is not totally healthful. Atkins Program is based on studies where a low carb high protein diet made people loose fat weight in great amounts.
The clasic Atkins followed a strict meat plan which in itself could become unhealthful. Following a loosened-up atkins where you mixed vegetable and fruit carbs with lean meat or fish is the way o go. You have to find a balance in your intakes especially portion sizes. Try to keep red meat consumption to 3 or 4 times a week. Fish and chicken are the best in the low carb diets. If you are really serious about loosing weight minimize consumption of rice, bread and potatoes. Bananas are great source of potasium, but are also high in carbs. Corn is also high on carbs. If you have to eat bread or rice, try the integral kind. Do an experiment: For a couple of days do not eat any bread, potatoes or rice. At first I did that and my energy levels rose pretty high. If you feel the urge to eat while you are following the low carb diet try to eat some cheese or some some fruit. Also drink lots of water....water is the most important thing to consume if you wanna loose weight.
At last try to fit the diet into what you like. Try not to think of it as a diet. If you think of it as a diet and follow the carb count to the letter, you may eventually end up giving up. At first you may have to be strict to gain some control of your cravings, but then it will come natural.
I have been following a low carb diet for about 6 months. In that time cholesterol is normal, sugar levels are normal, I feel a lot of energy, and I've gone from 311 pounds when I started to 240. So you tell me if it has work or not.
Another important thing to remember is to not fry food in regular cooking oils. Those oils are bad for you. Spain, Italy and France has the best health levels when it comes to food and the reason is said to be that they use mostly virgin olive oil. To fry food there are cooking olive oils, canola oils.

Donica, internet people who don't like low carb diets have spread outright LIES about it!! Don't listen to them. Your photos look great!! You are definitely losing weight. I dare anybody to say "eating sugar is good, eating white bread is healthy, eating white pasta is healthy". The key to low carb diets including Atkins is to eat lots of vegetables, to eat protein daily, and to drink lots of water and take your vitamins. If any net person thinks that those things are unhealthy, I'd really like to know why.

Really, the core of low carbing is to avoid sugar and processed foods. There is just SO much sugar in all of our food that it's crazy!! The people who are anti-Atkins are usually people who don't even understand what it is about. Atkins explicitly says to eat lots of vegetables, to exercise, to take vitamins, to drink water, to eat healthy fish. Anybody who just eats red-meat-and-fat is NOT following Atkins properly.

I disagree with the first part, of course. Classic atkins requires eating a lot of vegetables, eating healthy grains, drinking lots of water, taking vitamins and eating ample fish. So someone who just eats red meat is NOT following Atkins, they are following the caveman diet (which does exist).

I do agree fully with the second part!! This is not a quick fix. If you go low carb, lose the weight, and go back to eating Big Macs and French Fries you are going to blimp right back up again. You have to change your LIFESTYLE to be more healthy, if you want to BE healthy.
