I don't want to ever take the chance of osteo pourosis(sp?).
I just saw a man who had it (from a disease) He had lost 3 inches in height and looked sort of like a shrunken man.

Wow, that is pretty scary. I've also sworn off of cola drinks, because studies are showing that something in the cola really damages a woman's bones.

I was never a vitamin taker, but after the first DAY of low carbing I was getting horrible sinus-like headaches.

For the first couple of days I was popping Ibuprofen until my husband (student nurse) made me take a multivitamin. The headaches ceased. I'm not sure if (or how) that is related.

A good friend will bail you out of jail, a great friend will be sitting there next to you saying "That was awesome!".

I take a packet of multi's every day along with essential oils. Hey, I have a great tip for the ladies among us..... (sorry guys, it's a tip too good to not share).... I have had terrible PM cramps since puberty (I'm now pushing 40). Since taking Evening Primrose oil daily for two weeks prior to the monthly (500mg at night) I no longer suffer. Just thought I'd pass it on. It's been four months now and life is good!!!!

Actually on the sinus like headaches, most of us who start on low carb diets have HUGE sugar addictions that get broken when we cut sugar out of our diets. So usually you get a headache for the first day or two while you are going in essence through sugar withdrawl. So that might have been the cause. But it could also certainly be that your body had a vitamin deficiency that you only began to notice when you cleansed your body of other stuff, and that taking the vitamins helped with that.

It's really so important for all of us to take daily vitamins no matter what else we're eating. It would be nearly impossible to get all the vitamins you need on a daily basis just from the foods you eat. The number of vitamins we need is just too diverse ...

We do vitamins and supplements here!

I take a woman's daily vitamin that is high in iron and calcium and other things I need. I take a calcium and iron supplement.

I won't even go into what Frank takes. I can't even spell it all.

Kimberly takes a multivitamin specifically for teens.

Morgan takes a children's multivitamin.

In addition to these, we use herbal teas and various supplements/herbs when needed.

My boyfriend just got us new calcium tablets which are HUGE. I thought my multivitamins and the oil tablets were bad but this is just too much.

Does anybody out there split their vitamins so they can take them in halves so they're easier to swallow? Does it work to powder them and mix them into a drink?

Yet another vitamin taker here.
Some that I take that I didn't hear others mention are L-Carnitine and CoEnzyme Q-10 and Chromium Picolinate. I've seen these all recommended in various places over the years, for low-carb dieters. So I've taken them for awhile. No one else takes these? I wonder if I'm wasting my money! L-Carnitine isn't cheap (it supposedly helps you metabolize fat I believe).

Calcium - I recommend looking into it a bit more before taking it. It seems that Calcium is a difficult supplement for your body to make use of. Different types aren't necassarally equivalent. My doctor recommends a particular type - cant remember the name (of course an expensive one ). I've never found a brand that requires less than 4 pills / day to get 100%. I take 6 of them (and they are big pills), since I already have low bone density (probably due to losing my ovaries 12 years ago, at 30).

I agree about the Evening Primrose Oil, for PMS! I highly recommend it. That really helped me (many years ago). I also found magnesium supplement helped for PMS.

for those sick of taking pills, many nutrients can be taken in powder form, including most of the minerals and vitamin c. a very good quality of minerals, perhaps the best, can be found at www.albionlabs.com

vitamin e oil can be taken with a bottle dropper, in much the same way that essential oils are taken.

I've tried a number of vitamin splitters now and finally found one that works well. The razor is in the lid that you lower down onto the pill. A protective shield slides back from the razor as you lower it, so you can't accidentially cut yourself. It works really well, I'll be writing that up soon.

On the downside though, a vitamin that's cut in two now has sharp edges So I think I'm opting for learning how to swallow the bigger pills, while I look for pills that are smaller. I'd rather take 2 smaller pills twice a day rather than one giant one once a day.
