There ARE veterans here, John. I have had BIG problems with my computer and even a BAD virus, but hopefully, everything is okay now. I will be here every day from now on. Hang in there and I appreciate your visiting here. GK, Veterans Host at Bella.

I am a veteran. I was drafted in 1969 and served until 1971. No, I was not in Vietnam. I was stationed in Germany.

Army is a rough life. You are separated from your wife or girl friend and family. You are young and in a foreign country. It demands the highest integrity and discipline.

Yes, there are veterans out here and I am one of them. I started in the Air Force in 1972. Was in the Alabama and Ohio Army National Guard off and on from 1976 through 1986. Then in the Naval Reserve on Active Duty from 1988 through 1991. My husband is also retired Navy.

Glad to see so many vets here. My father was a Marine in WWII and served at Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal and some of the other island battles. He was there for 4 years.

My husband and I were both in the Navy "Viet nam era". I was a hospital corpsman for 10 years, both active and reserve and my husband retired 10 years ago.

One thing about being ex-military, you are always welcomed into any group of vets.

I am a Vietnam Era veteran.

I was never in Vietnam. I served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1970 until 1978.

I also served in the California Air National Guard from 1988 until 2000.

My last 3 years in the Calif. Air National Guard I served as a guardbum. That means instead of having a regular job as a civilian I volunteered for as many jobs as I could get with the Air National Guard.

I decided to retire from the military with 20 years of service in October 2000 because I didn't want to take the Antrax shots or go to Iraq.

I won't actually be officially ritired from the military until I reach age 60 in about 3 1/2 years from now.

Except for one year of isolated duty on Marcus Island from 1973 to 1974 I had it pretty nice in both active duty and in the Air National Guard.

I got to see quite a bit of the world in the military.
