Marian, I just read your new article on the companion site, about animals fathers. I can add a bit of info here. From watching the eagle cam over the last 3 years and most recently, this year, the osprey cam, I can tell you that both these species have wonderful, caring dads. The males help build the nest, are wonderful providers of food for both the females AND the chicks and will often hang around the nest babysitting when the female takes a break. I've even seen them sit on the eggs and occasionally feed the chicks, though this is not the general practice.
