What are the most important departments (cost not included) for you, when considering a car?

Nobody votes. Anyway, I want to slightly modify the question: What are your preferences when considering your FIRST car?

I have actually put comfort and consumption. And those few of you who voted have put Comfort and Safety. I guess both choices can be explained: fuel costs something like 5-7 times more here in Europe than it does in USA, so for you, consumption never was an issue (war in Iraq, by the way was partially to keep you happy with low gas prices). Comfort is indeed important for an every day use car. Any normal person would by a big, comfortable, not too expensive, not too attractive car for daily needs (job, shopping, kids, etc.). There are those however who seem to have the goal of their life to buy something special and end up buying something like Porsche Boxter as one and only car - unpractical, uncomfortable, expensive, still nothing too special and a complete waste of money all in all.

how can you say a porsche boxter is a waste of money, if you have the cash it is certainly a performance machine.

furthermore, I am an American, and I resent your comments about the war in Iraq. While freeing up such a vast oil market will bring our gas prices down, that is not a consideration that our goverment takes when deciding to eliminate threatening governments.

Suuuuuuuuuuuure it doesn't. It is not a consideration, it is number one argument. And you didn't quite get it, I'm not talking about bringing the prices down, they were to raise. How about a dollar for a liter of gas? That's what we have here (sometimes more) and that's what you could have got anf it would mean that half of all cars in USA would stop running.

As for Porsche. A real Porsche starts from 911, not Boxter. Just as real Mercedes starts from E-Class. All other models are purely commercial. Boxter is made to indulge people who can't afford the real one but desperately want a Porsche for one reason or another. It is nice, but nothing to write home about and it definitely brings the Porsche brand status down, not up.
