I absolutely LOVE what Myss says about self-esteem:
"Self-esteem is the ability to have an interior sense of self that is so in harmony with purposewith a sense of who you arethat you can afford to hear a voice that no one else hears. You can afford to get a flash that no one else sees, and that if someone says to you: 'Thats crazy. That cant happen'you know it can"
This is something that I've finally come to realize in my own life. Having battled low self-esteem for most of my life, I'm finally to the point where I recognize that other people's opinions are simply that - opinions. They do not dictate who I am, or how I should live my life. As a result of having that realization, I am no longer afraid of what people have to say - or how they might be judging me.
I think intuition is something that we all just have... not necessarily a gift or survival skill... it's just something that we have - like having a heart, lungs, kidneys etc... we were born with those things, as well as intuition. I think your life experience either helps to enhance your intuition, or helps to quell it. Having lived through times where my intution was encouraged and discouraged, I have to agree with Myss when she says that you just have to have the strength to act on your intuition. It's always there, you are always deciding whether or not to follow it.
