Hello, everyone! I haven't really went away I just sort of stopped coming on here, but I'm trying to be more active in here. The reason fro Healing being in my subject is because I think I found out I'm supposed to be a natural healer. Now, I was sort of hesitant posting this here because I'm not sure if it's the right category, but hopefully that doesn't matter all that much! ^_^ Anyway back on subject. I was wondering if anyone that's reading this knows of any techniques/ways to heal like I'm supposed to.

This is just some information that might help out:
I was also told I can be Empathic (feeling others emotions as if they were your own) towards what I'm supposed to heal.

Thanks a bunch, glad to post again!

Light
and
Love,
Josh

Hi Josh!

Good to see you again.

Yes, this is a great category/Forum to talk about becoming a healer, as well as being empathic.

There are many books out there on healing. Let me ask you this: what are your interests and passions? There are many ways to heal, some not very traditional. For example, some heal through teaching, others through the arts. Then there are energetic forms of healing such as Reiki, and hands on forms such as massage.

As you talk about what excites and interests you, I think it likely that you'll discover areas in which to heal. Feel free to post away, and "think aloud" with us!

Hm... Well, I really enjoy music. I play the flute fairly well. Sometimes I like to read. That's all I can think of really.

Hey, Josh, do me a favor if you have some free time: go to http://ansir.com and take this personality test (if you haven't already). What I love about this personality system is that the core philosophy is "work with strengths, not against them". Perhaps from your results I can give you some practical paths to look at.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, what prompted you to think "I'm supposed to be a natural healer"? You almost seem unconvinced...or like it was someone else's idea/suggestion.

My husband has an amazing gift of healing. Incredible gift of therapeutic touch. He once healed a severe IBS attack instantly, and I've never had a severe IBS sitch since then. It was really quite amazing. However, as of now, he feels like he's only really supposed to use it for me and my son. Some may say "If you have a gift, you're supposed to share it with the world." Over time, I've come to believe this is not so. Our soul has certain lessons to learn in life, and just because we have a gift, doesn't mean it's for everyone. Know what I mean?

Blessings to you, and keep "thinking out loud" here, if you'd like.

Hmmm... Have you read anything about healing with sound? I know some people heal with tuning forks, tibetan bowls, etc. Also there seems to be a lot of talk about healing with music-- books like The Mozart Effect, etc.

What types of books do you read? Have you heard of Poetry Therapy / Journal Therapy (I think I've heard of "Literature Therapy" also, healing through reading or being read to)?

If you find that you are too "empathic", you may need to be careful about protecting yourself from other people's energy. Sometimes healers are so sensitive that they have trouble keeping healthy energetic boundaries, getting overwhelmed with other people's energy, etc.

I'm a massage therapist and reflexologist, so I'm very interested healing. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Janet - I haven't gotten to the test because I'm a little confused on how to get there.

The reason I was intrigued to this was because I've always felt peoples pain (headaches mostly) and I asked in a chat room if it's possible to be empathically open to only pain and someone suggested I could feel what I'm supposed to heal ( I like that: feel what i'm supposed to heal )

Michael - No, I haven't read anything about healing with sound/music. I'll have to see if I can find any books/websites on the subject.

As for what type of books I read I'll read anything that gets my attention. I judge books by their title. If it sounds interesting I'll look at it, but I think alot of people do that.

Thank you for your little words of caution. I'm familiar with Empathy all together.

Hey again, Janet,

Here are the results I produced from the test:
"Dominant Thinking Style: Evokateur
Dominant Working Style: Empath
Dominant Emoting Style Sage"

I haven't gotten a chance to look at Johnathan Goldman's website throughly, but I will soon.

Thanks for the link and ideas for books

Heres something I was told when I started to learn how to heal:

If your intentions are to heal then you can heal
Follow what you believe you should do. There is no fixed way.

I won't tell you how I use healing because I will find it hard to explain at this point in time.

Hi Josh,

Off the top of my head, I notice that you work Empath. Empath workers are the ones that really connect on an emotional level with their students/audience, and make learning fun for others. If you enjoy teaching, or the thought of teaching, you may want to explore that avenue of healing.

It can be quite frustrating and perplexing finding our "life purpose". It's the question of purpose that causes me much existential angst, actually!

I think that if we explore our bliss and what makes us feel enthusiastic and joyous, we're on the path to find our niche in life. Also, whatever circumstances we often find ourselves in may hold clues to our purpose, as well.

Have you ever read my article Seeing Yourself And Life Symbolically by any chance? I talk about Archetypes in that article. It's the constellation of archetypal energies we use that often helps us fulfill our "sacred contracts".

Does that make sense?
