For thousands of years, divination with dice has been used for casting lots, gaining insights, and foretelling the future. Some die have many faces, while others have the traditional 6.

I've just posted a review of an interesting new divination tool called Decision Dice. My review can be found here: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art23894.asp

As with any divination tool, the 2 questions I ask myself are:

1. Is it user friendly?
2. Is it accurate?

I gave this method a test run on a client, as well as myself, so you can read about the experience in my review.

Have you ever used dice as a form of divination? What was your experience? Did you ever get a reading done from someone who cast lots?

I've only tried dice online, using the second method - that is, where every number has a meaning to it. I don't remember trying to find out my future this way, but there was one question I've asked several times - "What does this person think about me?" The answers I got were surprisingly true to life - at least, they matched my own point of view. I think, this form of divination has something in it! It is rather unbiased, I think, because there is nothing you can do to influence the way the dice fall, and every number corresponds to a certain prediction, while the cards are open for all sorts of interpretations, and diviners are sometimes tempted to give a slightly more favorable interpretation than they feel is true. As for "Yes/No" questions, a coin is my all-time favorite!

Interesting! I like a coin for yes/no questions too. Someone once told me that dice aren't totally random. The higher numbered sides weigh more so they come up less often than the lower numbered sides. Don't know if it's true or not.

Elena, very interesting! Do you happen to know the URL of the dice website you used online? I'm intrigued! My husband and I have used a coin for yes/no answers, as well. If we don't feel strongly about one option or the other (such as picking a restaurant), we'll often use this method. If he says 'We'll use the coin', it's a sure way to push my preferences to the forefront, if in fact I do care! LOL

Mtnmermaid, I believe that "weighted dice" are used illegally in gambling. ("Loaded dice", I think it's called). As far as I know, regular dice are aren't loaded.

I'm in the process of writing a Divination Ebook, and it's interesting to note that the reason that dice are often called "bones" is because bones (like knucklebones) were used as a form of divination--and were a precursor to dice. Some divination systems use dice that have more than 6 sides...some up to 24!

Ah, too bad. That's OK, though! I'm just insanely curious, as usual.
