Here's a different twist...you ever feel like, my goodness, if I see or hear that name one more time...or...what is that big deal about that name, everyone's naming their baby that? You know what I mean! I remember when Cody and Dillon were really popular and a lot of people I knew were naming their boys that, and I thought, why do you want to name your child what everyone else is? Or, when I named my oldest daughter Kylie, it seemed like they were popping up everywhere! Or, here's a good one, how about when you hear on TV that some celebrity had a baby and named it "Lulabelle" or something and you're thinking, what were they thinking?! So...what's your pet-peeve name? Mine? I'm sorry, but I am so sick of "Madison" and "Abby". I like the names, please don't get me wrong, but does every girl have to be Madison and Abby? lol Michele babynames@bellaonline.org

I agree with you on the very common names but I think I would rather have that than some not common names I've heard lately and wondered what were the parents thinking. such as first name: Dartanion and middle name:Ryne. How do you call a baby that? How about Edge? I recently heard on the radio about a boy named Art Arther. Is his name Arther Arther?

I totally agree! Although, I do like some of the new and unusual names...I actually kind of like Edge sort of, hehehe And...I absolutely agree about the first name the same as the last name thing. Do parents think it's cute to name their child Robert Roberts or Kelly Kelly? What's going on there? Or, how about the poor kids that names are like Bottled Beer, Lavendar Sidebottom, and the family of children named: Tonsilitis, Meningitis, Appendicitis, and Peritonitis Jackson?!! These are all actual names! Michele babynames@bellaonline.org

Well, I thought I was being different when I names my daughter Hannah in 1999. Everywhere I go there is another Hannah! I had no idea that name was so popular. I was going for an older Biblical name and figured that one wouldn't be very popular. Guess I was wrong!

When I was younger, I didn't like the name at all! But, quite honestly, it has grown on me over the years and it really is quite a cute little girl's name. Anymore, you can't find a name you think is going to be unique to your babe because it seems like once you've used the name, everyone else does, lol. Just like when I named my oldest Kylie. Shortly after, they were popping up everywhere and I actually thought I made it up. Boy o boy! Was I separated from civilization or what!?! LOL  Michele babynames@bellaonline.org

I know what you guys are saying, I am really getting tired of hearing people name there children extremely outrageous things, like just the other day i heard of celebrities who named their daughter Scout LaRue. I'm sorry, that just hits me the wrong way. As for me, I named my son Nathan Joshua and my daughter Kelsey Paige. They are very common names, but i like them. We are having a third, and i need GOOD name suggestions if anyone has some they would like to share. Boy or girl is fine. They should sound good with Kelsey and Nathan. (our last name is King)

I heard someone named Forest and Wood is their last name. I've also heard Crystal Chandelier. That's cruel to do that to your kid.
Sappho
OH, and you must think what a name I have. I really like the fact it's not common. Downside, it gets butchered in spelling and pronounciation.

ok, im way too young to be thinking about having children but ive always had favorite names. I think that Rhiannon, Victoria, (and heres my odd one) Ashila, are cute girls' names and I've always like Blake, Gabriel, and Steffan for little boys' names.

Names that need to go away:
Brayden/Caden/Jaden/anything else that rhymes
Anything that starts with Mc/Mac/Myc Anything that sounds or is spelled remotely like Madison Anything that is made up Anything that is a last name Boys names on girls (and vice versa)
that's a good list for starters..
Edited to add: anything spelled "kreatively"

I'm hoping for a boy this time. I haven't the slightest idea what name I would give him. It took me 9 months to get the name for our daughter -- a name that was in my face all along (her name is a combination of both my maternal grandparent's middle names!) so I am not welcoming the task of having to pick our second child's name.
