i have this small fear of death... well when i say small its quiet big. I'm a christian, and i know inside that i should be fine with the subject, but it really scares me. i dont like the idea that i wont be in this body... does that make sense. that my body will be lost, and i wont be able to see 'this world'.
please can you reasure me, and try and get me over this fear?! thank you xx

Hi clefairy,

I completly understand what you are saying... No one wants to die. I always worry what will happen to my family if I were to die. What will become of them? Who will take care of them? etc...

One time, a long time ago, I was watching Oprah...yeah, I love her... <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> and she had this guy on her show ( I don't remeber who he was) But he said that inside our soul is the same as everyone else's and it is our Soul, or Spirit, that creates the outer shell, so we can recognize one another here on earth. That kind of stuck with me in that : if my Spirit can recognize those that I love, or will love in some way, then I have nothing to fear that in heaven those who love me and that I love will be able to find me and recognize me...even if I don't have this same body.

The Bible tells us that we will recieve a Glorious body when we are united with Christ in heaven... It says we will have no more sadness or tears and will be in a constant state of worship with Christ before the throne of God the Father. So, to me, that means that I will be given a "new" body and this old, tired one full of flaws and sorrows will pass away. But that it is NOT my body, or the way I look that makes ME ME. It is my Spirit living in harmony with the Holy Spirit living inside my heart that makes me who I am.

And lastly, I believe that heaven is not "far off". I believe that heaven is very near. I also believe that Jesus is right here with me walking along beside me. So I also believe that those who have died that I love can see me, too.

Also, think of the rapture...Elijah was taken into heaven right where he stood. He was walking one moment with Elisha and then a fiery chariot came down from heaven and swooped him away...his body, and soul... taken into heaven...I think this is what the rapture will be like. One minute we will be there and the next the trumpet will sound and those who are dead will rise first and then those of us still living will be "taken".

I hope some of these things reassure you. If you still have fears about dying, thats OK. No one wants to leave what is comfortable and known for that which is unknown. My advice to you would be to seek out an even closer relationship with Chrsit so you don't feel like leaving this "world" and going to heaven is so foreign for you. It will give you something to look forward to...

Just as a final note: there are some people in my life that I worry about, that I willmiss if Jesus came back this morning. I worry because I love them and I know that RIGHT NOW they would not be going with me. I would miss them very much. So I pray everyday for these people to be born agian and come into a right relationship with Christ... lovers

Tiflynn,
There are 12 of those books in the Left Behind series. Try reading them all. They are all good reading and they all follow Bible prophesy. The last in the series is awesome.

Clefairy,
Start reading the Bible. - New Testament to start with. The more you read and really get to know Jesus, the less you will fear death.
I don't think our bodies will be lost-- they will be glorified. When Jesus was resurected and was visiting His disciples, he walked, talked and ate with them. He had a glorified body at that time. (He also seemed to be able to walk through walls!)

I'm not so sure that we won't be able to see this world. I know that in heaven there will be so much love and light that there won't be any room in any of us for fear.

Remember, heaven is where we are meant to be. Jesus has been preparing it for us for a long time!
