Funny how as the years after 2000 roll on by we are seeing more apocalyptic movies. But this is the first one I've seen advertised that has hints towards people who disappear.... hmmm...what do you think? [/qb]
I believe that if you try and look for such deep spiritual ideals withing Hollyweird, you will be sorely disappointed. Hollyweird is all about the fame, fortune, and fashion. The trends in Hollyweird concerning spirituality tend to revolve around what spirituality a famous and influential star is dabbling in at a certain momnet in time. For example, when Madonna started studying Quabbalah, it seemed that everyone in the TV, Movie, and Music Industry jumped onto the Quabbalah bandwagaon. I am not trying to invalidate anyone's beliefs, whether they are famous or not. What I am saying is that Hollyweird tend to be wishy-washy when it comes to spirituality.
I can find all kinds of spiritual beliefs in The Matrix Movies... everything from Quabbalah, an Buddihism, to Christianity. The movie called The Fifth Element has many magical overtones that can be found in the teachings within many ancient Pagan philosphies, Wicca, and Witchcraft. Many Hollyweird movies contain spiritual aspects. And if we look hard enough we can possibly find a little of our own personal beliefs in them. That is the goal of movie makers... to bring the masses to see the movie, to make the money. The movie makers know the trends, they know what's appealing and with dollar signs in their eyes they go for it.
Now instead of looking to the movie, The Forgotten" to prepare yourselves for the Rapture that you believe in, why not search in the Holy and Sacred Text that you hold so dear to your heart as the word of your God. Wouldn't you rather take the word of the authority over the entire situation, or would you rather listen to a movie maker whose only goal is to entertain and make money?
Now as for this movie that you speak of, I have not yet seen it. I will eventually, though. Those are my favorite type of movies... the horror, thrillers, mysteries, adventure the ones that leave me on the edge of my seat.
