Lestat is an indoor cat and is currently sunning himself in the window . He is as brave as a lion when it comes to guarding his territory against any other animals, including birds, kangaroos and other cats! When it comes to vacuum cleaners, mops, visitors and loud noises.....he runs and hides under the doona cover. He follow me round like a little puppy and refuses to let my parther pick him up, but she is allowed to tickle his belly when he deems it appropriate. He howls when I am away...even for a few minutes. One of his favourite games is to be chased round the house...he hides round corners, under the bed, behind the shower curtain etc. and then races past me to be chased again when I find where he is. Towards me he is an an extremely loyal and loving cat....anyone else...just doesn't seem to exist!

We have three cats (and two dogs)and they are each their own unique individual. Until last Friday (the 17th of March) we had four cats but lost one who was not quite two years old to liver failure. He was 1/2 of a Dynamic Duo we adopted (boy and girl litter-mates), and his sister Sophie was completely hysterical when we put Harvey in his carrier to take him to the vet on Thursday. Friday night after he had passed away she seemed like she was on a mission to destroy the house and everything in it. This went on all night (working through her grief?), until she collapsed in an exhausted heap on top of the cedar chest. She is slowly returning to normal.

[color:"blue"] I have an eight year old calico named Kitty (I know...how original but I got her from my Mom after my Mom died and that's her name). She is learning to cope with having a seventeen month old boy around, since I baby sit for my grandson. She tolerates him and even lets him pet her occasionally. Recently she has started to reclaim her territory. My grandson tries out her bed and tower perches then Kitty has to use them to make them have her scent on them. [color:"red"] I love my Kitty. >^..^< <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I adore all my cats. I had one pass away recently, she was a talker. I still can't even mention all her wonderful traits because it hurts too much to have lost her to FELV.

Darling Poor: I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Only pet people can understand how we can be so grieved when we lose a beloved pet. I can't tell you how many people commented to me "it was only a cat/dog", which seemed to make the hurt that much harder to bear. Our hearts are still hurting over the loss of Harvey, but we are getting better with each day. Working on this pet scrapbook has helped an awful lot with the grief process for all the pets who have crossed the "Rainbow Bridge".
For all of you who have lost pets, go online and download a copy of the poem "Rainbow Bridge". I have one copy framed and hanging on the wall in the dining room. I also have a copy I put in the pet scrapbook.
