Some good thoughts. What bothers me most is that every woman I know who has had an abortion did so for convenience sake. No life threatening diseases. No rape. Just because it wasn't "the best time."

This will probably be argued until the end of time. I disapprove of abortions as a method of birth control, like Caring Parent wrote that the women she knows felt it wasn't the right time. If it's not the right time, please don't allow a pregnancy to happen in the first place. Obviously in the case of rape, that is not possible. In the case of rape or accidental pregnancy (birth control method failed) where the mother is just not prepared mentally to carry a child to term or deal with it afterwards (keep it or give it up) then an early abortion (well before 4 months gestation) would be agreeable, in my humble opinion.

Women (and men) must take responsibility in advance of pregnancy. Just as we try to protect ourselves from AIDS, herpes and other STD's, pregnancy should not be the least of the concerns just because it seems to be the easiest to "cure" at the moment.

Oh Lizzy, you daring soul, you used the "R" word...Responsibility.

Perhaps I'm crazy, but even in high school I was under the opinion that if you "got" pregnant than you had to take responsibility. In my mind that meant giving the child up for adoption so that the child would have the best chance at a good life.

Hi it's me the Christianity Host checking in on this "hot" topic. As you know my views are strictly Christian when it comes to abortion. I will go there as far as to say that IMHO I feel abortion is murder. I don't go in for all the "viable fetus" arguments and all that. I've had three children and three ultra sounds at 3 months of pregnancy and Ihave seen a heart beating and movement and it has been proven that, as early as 3 months into a pregnancy, there is brain activity. There are more children dying today as the result of "legalized abortion" or "legalized murder" than there was in Nero's day when he killed all the infants under 2 years of age. Also, just as a side note, society ingeneral has been up in arms about assisted suicide, but we as women are "for" abortion as long as there is parental notification?! Where is the dignity in human life! Our lives are a gift from God. Who are we to stand by and allow for the killing of our innocents and then blast the government for "collateral damage" in a war? A child is not an "inconvienence (sp). If your own mother had excersized her "right' to be or not to be a mother how many of us do you think would be here right now?
