My advice is to get creative and come up with designs that you're not seeing anywhere else, while keeping an eye on current fashion trends.

Originality is very important when selling your work, because there is so much competition.

I'll be posting a new newsletter tomorrow with a spring and summer trends preview that I hope will be helpful.

OK, that last post is really from me - we have a few glitches being worked out with the new forum software.

If you are making earrings with french hook wires, using the little rubber stoppers on them will help your buyers keep their earrings (esp. if you tell them to use them when wearing the earrings!) as well as help the earrings stay on the card.

A printed business card can be an inexpensive backing that looks nice. (Ie. Sterling silver earrings by the Earring Guy printed on the bottom (print on the short side - so you can use the full height of th business card if you are making dangling earrings)

When making jewelry, be sure to calculate ALL your costs - include ALL materials, website costs, booth costs (if going to shows), and advertising. Then find out how many pairs of earrings you need to sell per month to break even. Many crafters do not take the time to make a business plan and then wonder why they lost money.

Wishing you the best of luck,
Lorraine
