I found this forum last week and have enjoying reading your posts. I have a website up, still needs some tweaking but would like to ask your opinion and I would welcome any input on how to improve my site. I have about 30 more pieces to add to the website this week and need to add the link backs on the pages.

Thanks
Sue

Hi Sue,

Wow - your site looks gorgeous! I'm really impressed with your photography (which isn't easy to do) and the professional look and functionality of the site. You're definitely on the right track.

I would recommend adding navigation to the bracelet, necklace, and earrings pages, so that that people can easily jump directly to a different category without having to use their back button to get back to the home page.

Also, you might consider evenutally adding an "About Me" type of page where you give a little info about yourself and your jewelry.

You'll also need some kind of policy or ordering info page with your policies about orders, shipping, returns and that sort of thing. (If it's already there, please accept my apologies - I'm in a bit of a hurry with things this week.)

Overall, it's just wonderful and very professional looking. I love the catalog pages and how they work.

Congratulations!

Please stay in touch!

Chris

Chris

Thank you for your input. I am working with a web designer (I take the pictures) who has been a little "slow" to respond to the changes I have made and given to him. I wish at times I would have been brave enough to have tried doing the website myself, I get impatient when I want things done. I also need to figure how to get my website out there without paying for adwords.

Good luck on your move and I look forward to viewing your website when it is back on.

Thanks

Hi again Sue!

I can relate to your frustration working with a web designer. I have had similar troubles. (I also get impatient when things don't get done.)

But I've tried both ways - designing sites myself, and hiring someone. There are down sides to both. I find that when I take on the designing myself, it just eats away at too much of my time. Then I don't have enough time to make my jewelry or get my other inventory organized and processed.

So I am now a convert to the approach of hiring a designer, and just realizing that things may be kind of slow going with it at first.

For my new online store, I've had to ask the designers a million questions and have them go back and change a million things. (At least it seems like that much!)

But after several months I think it's finally coming together! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hang in there, because your site is turning out just beautifully.

Chris
