Trish, I am feeling much better. Thank you for caring. My niece is doing well. I just try to keep her active. This weekend my church is having their fall festival so she will be working that.

God Bless You, Cindy

Hello, I'm back. Jim got out of the hospital yesterday. He's doing much better. I'm trying to get rested now.

It's interesting that James talks about trials. The Message says it this way:
Jam 1:2 Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides.
Jam 1:3 You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors.

I'm not sure I can consider the challenges of this week a gift or joy yet, but I know I was forced to depend on and trust in God more than in easy times.

I also just read in the Purpose Driven Life that God develops peace within us, not by making things go the way we plan but by allowing times of chaos and confusion. No matter what happens in this life, God is there to hold on to and He does not change.

Everything that happens to believers has a spiritual significance because as Romans 8:28-29 says, He causes all things to work together for good ....
I have to trust God's plan.

3. I think being double minded means to not be able to say "YES" to God. It's more like "yes, but" or "maybe yes, maybe no" I want to be single minded when it comes to my belief and trust in Jesus Christ.

4. Of course I have been tempted and drawn in to sin by my own "evil desires" Since becoming a believer in Jesus Christ I have the help of the Holy Spirit to recognise and to turn away from temptation. Keeping my mind on Him is the best solution to temptation. Thats where praying unceasingly and practicing the presence of Jesus comes into play.

5. To me "looking into a mirror and going away and forgetting what I look like" is seeing myself and my sins spelled out in the Bible and turning away without making a change in my heart and actions. I'm thankful for the Holy Spirit who convicts me and reminds me of where I need to change.

By the way -- While the forum chat room is sick (some people can't get in. I'm one of them!) We could use something like a Yahoo Instant Messenger. I know you can get a private chat room on Yahoo. I'm not sure about MSN messenger.

Just a thought.

Lynne, I am glad to hear that your husband is home and that you are back. I will continue to pray for you and your family.

I have the Purpose Driven Life also. After we study James would you be interested in partnering up for the Purpose Driven Life? My church did the book I guess last year and I was not attending church then. I feel it is a book you have to do with other people.

God Bless you and I really enjoyed the Bible Study.

Thank you for your prayers Cindy.

I might be interested in the Purpose study. Lets talk after James is done. Our church is doing it now and I'm studying it in a small group.

HI lynn!

I'm so happy for you and your husband being back home. You guys were definatly in my prayers.

I did the Purpose study by myself and I think I got more out of it than anything else I had done until then. I was able to really go deep and it helped me get alot out of my system. I feel much more satisfied with the things that have happened to me and been able to forgive alot. It's amazing how freeing forgiveness is. A man named, Roy Sherwood from the Navigators in Colorado Springs taught me that forgiveness is a selfish act...I never really understood that untill I was able to let it all go...

Shall we move on to chapter 2? Are we ready? lol

I am up to studying the Purpose too, after James tho...

I also have yahoo messenger my screen name is jenna37us I do have MSN messenger but my son uses that one so my screen name is footballer22 lol but you can add me to either one if you want to chat that way...we'd have to coordinate times tho...

Glad your OK cici...hurricanes look scary.

You know, Lynn, I think sometimes we face trials in our lives SO we can trust God...sometimes thats all it's for I think. All glory to God for your husbands recovery...Well done good and faithful servant. Thats what I think God is saying to you...look for the blessing...

John Hagee said something the other day that rings true here. Sometimes the blessing comes after the 2 or 3 trial. The first one is just paving the way for God to come in the door. After it seems everything is going wrong, the blessing comes and we are able to extend our arms upward to recieve His big hug. I love His big hug!

Thank you for the prayers and kind words Jenna. I'm pearlwaite on Yahoo. I'll add you and wait to see if our other 'studyers' want to do the Yahoo thing and then find a time to chat.

Maybe we will get a new chat room here in the forum soon -- I hope.

Look for the Chapter 2 thread
