I'm 50 yrs old and have riden on hte back of a motocycle maybe 10 times in my life.

I have been thinking of late that I would like to larn to ride one.
Do you think I'm too old to start?
I will respect your honest input. Don't worry, if you say yes, I will not come apart at the seams...LOL.
You are more the experts so thats why I'm asking.

Oh, my goodness, Tooee, you are most certainly not too old to ride! People much older than you learn to ride motorcycles with ease. (I once taught a man to fly airplanes who was 65 with one eye!)I didn't start riding until I was 40. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation has beginning rider courses everywhere which are excellent, nonthreatening, and usually inexpensive. They have a web site.

Good for you for taking the initiative! Many more women are riding these days. It's great fun to ride your own bike. I ride sportbikes, myself. You must visit www.cycleforums.com. I think that is the correct address. Look for "cycle angels" on there. PM me and I can answer some questions for you about getting started.

Good luck! Ride safe!

Hell no you're not too old to ride. Last year I got a t-shirt that said "if you can read this the jerk fell off"

I'm a newbe female rider at 53 yrs young who took the Basic Safety Class last April (2004), passed, and bought a new Yamaha in May. (I rode on the back for a couple of years when I was a kid.) I was the 2nd oldest in the class. Now it is Sept. and I have 1300 miles on my bike. I love it. You only live once, make every day count!

you are never too old!I've been riding motorcycles since I was 17. My first one was a honda CX500 deluxe. I loved it!! I miss riding. With kids, truck payments and house payments, we haven't been able to get our hands on some motorcycles. I'm 40 now and my hubby is 50. Tooee, go get a bike and ride!!!!

Tooee! By all means go for it! I'm 49 and took the Safety Course a couple of springs ago... there were as many women in the class as men, and most of us were over 40! We all passed, too! I would recommend the Safety course... contact your local State Police who offer the course for free, I believe. In just a couple of weekends, we went from sitting on a 250 without moving to doing figure 8s and braking to a quick stop. Plus they gave us the drivers test there and the licesnsing process was much less complicated.

Right after I took the course, I was riding around my neighborhood practicing turns and stops, and a woman who was probably in her 50s leaned out her car window and hollered "You go girl, I wish I was you!"

Don't ever let anyone tell you that you are too old to do ANYTHING! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

age is all in the mind. you don't stop living an excting life because you grow old, you grow old because you stop living an exciting life. If you feel you are up to it, go for it. Don't ever refrain from doing something because you think you're too old. Just do what you want to. If you worry about what everyone else thinks, you'll have no time to worry about yourself. Just go for it. Good luck
