To me, The Doors is just okay. But my best friend was a huge fan. My best friend recently passed away, December the 18th. I'm responsible picking 5 songs for his funeral. I know his favorite song is The Crystal Ship but I need to pick one more song from The Doors. His 2 other favorite songs was Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar) and Hello, I Love You. Those 2 songs aren't serious enough to be played. Any suggestions?

Play Moonlight Drive.

Good one for a tribute to your friend and also appropriate for a funeral...you could consider Wild Child, too. If he was as big a fan as you say, you have to include The End.

My son was named after Jim Morrison...his name is James Douglas and before I remarried (his real dad took the JDM stuff too seriously...even told people that was his name and used to drink and take drugs...etc) my son's initials were JDM.

The only reason I agreed was that I thought Jim Morrison was a great poet. I think he was ahead of his time. Sortof like Sylvia Plathe. Plus it's a really strong Irish name.

So play :

The Crystal Ship
Wild Child
Moonlight Drive
Alabama Song
The End

There's your five songs. Sorry about your friend. What was his/her name? How did they die?

Thank you so much Jenna. My friend's name was Jason Proffitt and he was 21 years old. He had Fredrichs Muscular Dystrophy. His favorite songs were (#1) The Crystal Ship (#2) Hello, I Love You (#3) Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar) Would you think it'll be proper to play those songs at his funeral? You got me thinking because you picked the Alabama Song and you're the Christianity Editor. Later.

I think, Andrew, that we should honor our friends and loved ones when they pass by paying tribute to the people they were when they were alive.

The song I want played at my funeral will be "Kick Alittle" by Brooks and Dunne. Cuz sometimes in life you have to take a stand and stand for it.

And I'm a Christian, yes, but I do enjoy a good shot of Turkey every now and then...especially when it's chilly out.

So I think you should play Jason's favorite songs at his funeral and you should all sing along as loudly as you want to because Jason will probably be singing along too in heaven.

God Bless and Merry Christmas
