Does anybody know/have experience with, meer cats as pets?
They're so darn CUTE, and seem to have easily as much personality as anyone of my {gulp!} 9 cats, whenever they're highlighted on a National Geographic-type show, in their natural habitat {I THINK it's primarily in the area of the Sahara, where it borders grasslands}.
I was just interested in 1) if it's possible to have them as pets here in the U.S.; and 2) if so, what are their special needs?
Thank you for any assistance,
DM

I don't think I have seen one, if you could scan a photo maybe and post it? I will hunt in the NG website and see if they should have one so I could see it. You have me curious now <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hey, Diana, this link should take you to a Nat'l Geographic article on these adorable critters:
http://magma.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0209/feature3/

Sorry, I had separated the syllables, & mis-spelled the "-kats" ....................... once you read about them, prepare to fall in love!
They're cousins of the mongoose {they're known to attack & eat snakes there in the Sahara/Sudan regions}; *I* just think they'd be the coolest things to have running around the house - almost as cute as monkeys, or kittens when they just start wandering & 'stalking' each other ...............
Enjoy!
