We have many pets; but the most interesting one is our hairless rat. She is really a very sweet pet. She is very clean and loving. She even gives kisses. I got her from my cousin's friend and my cousin has one as well. Looking forward to pet stories from others. sincerely, moose

my roommate is owner/worshipper to a female cat of senior years. she is an unknown breed, but she is white with thick fur and has a feisty personality even at the age of 15. she drinks from glass goblets as this is easier for her to reach than a low bowl.

you can tell time by the cat as she moves around the house all day, following the brightest sunshine patch from room to room.

This is fun hearing about everyone's pets. It just so happens I just wrote an article on my cat. Take a look. I have six cats now. I am very proud of the fact that every feral kitten born near our neighborhood found a good home this year. It helps that I am a reporter, and have the advantage of fee classifieds.

Hi I'm Allyson from Massachusetts, and I've got a few pets wandering around here that definately kids to me (although i also have 2 of those) My husband is a saint, and really tolerates a lot. We are lucky enough to live on a small farm, so the door is pretty much open to us for any pets we'd like. I'd love a horse, but haven't gotten quite that daring yet. Right now we have: A pomeranian named Jack, a Himalayan named Baxter, parakeets, hamsters, fish, roosters and chickens, and a giant bull named Moo Montana. everytime a pet comes into our lives i feel blessed, because we always seem to luck out personality wise. they are all just great.

I couldn't agree more, each animal is a blessing. I have to know, how did the bull get the name Moo Montana? Glad to meet you. Do drop in often. Feel free to suggest articles for the Bella Online site. I am always open to suggestions.

One of my hermmies changed shells last night. Pick out a real pretty cone shaped shell. His prior shell was round, so it took him a while to learn to navagate through other shells, but soon got for he gets around as well has he did with the other shell. Hermit crabs are a blast to watch.

Our baby Moo Montana got his name from my daughter, who was around 9 at the time that we got him. He was only several hours old and SOO so cute. i do think there may have been a cartoon character named that at some point, but i cant be sure. she chooses most of our pets names, and has done a pretty good job so far! <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

We have 2 great danes, August and Walter, 2 parrots, Miss P (a meyers parrot) and Hannah (baby blue and gold macaw) and one cat Tabitha.

Hi. We share living quarters with four cats, all spayed or neutered. They are all black and white. All but one found it's way here by chance. The two boys get along with each other fairly well, but the girls don't like anybody. I would like to ask for help to sooth the allergy to flea bites ET seems to have. She scratches almost constantly and pulls out her hair. We do have a bottle of Itch Stop shampoo, which I will use on her tomorrow. Then they all get a dose of flea killer on the back. I have used the flea comb and killed 11 fleas so far. I wondered if any of you have other suggestions to calm her. Thanks.

We had a dog that had horrible allergies. We finally had to have allergy shots once a month and that helped emensely. You might check into that.

Sister found Scratchex brand flea/tick anti-bacterial shampoo this morning. It is supposed to help relieve the itching, too. We will try that first. I hope it works on ET. The last time she did this hair pulling thing, she was half naked.

Well, after the flea comb got 11 from ET and four from Hoover, they have had baths to kill their fleas. Now Junior, who has long hair, is the one who really needs the bath. In several sessions I have killed 55 fleas from him. Most have been females. That number is nothing compared to last year when I got over 200 from him. Oh, collars are useless as far as we are concerned. (Besides, the vet will remove them if he sees one.) Some years ago, we tried the herbal Shoo collars. They actually attracted fleas to the neck area, without killing them. The cats had the worst infestation that year. Since skipping the collars, the flea problem hasn't been mearly as bad.

My fiance and I have 5 house rabbits, 3 parakeets and 2 goldfish. We refer to our household as the Zoo. The rabbits are caged when no one is home but we do let them out for play time. Animals are blessings, even if they do misbehave sometimes!

Will, somehow our single hermit crab is now a bunch of hermit crabs. We have really fallen for the little guys. We bought a 20 gallon tank, and are now looking for a huge tank. Those are a bit pricey, so were keeping a look out at garage sales. Troubles is, everytime I garage sale, looking for tanks, I end up hauling everything home but a tank.

There is several great anti itch products on the market. I would even try a bath with a little baking soda. It sure helps me when I hive out.

Here we have 2 ancient kitties, one being 20, Belkar; and the other 15 or so, Tiger; we inherited him from my grandmother when she passed. Also in the house there are 2 goldfish, Cosmo and Wanda; a betta named Oscar; 2 brother guinea pigs, Wallace Mohawk and Russet Potato and finally 4 gerbils. Cedar, Shamus, Angus and Shiva. the first 2 being Angus's parents and the last 2 have just had 5 fat lil babies =]

Hi folks! I have here a very small, bearcub-like and silly cat, Lucky, and an extremely spoiled iguana, four years old, five feet long and 14 pounds, Green Guy. Iguanas are very funny creatures; their care is quite complex but if you take proper care of them you will be rewarded with a really fun, interesting and unique animal companion!

I raise American Bulldogs and English Bulldogs. I also have a Pit Bull, Shitzu. a Jack Russell and one Bengal cat. I have a pix gallery at my sight where you can see some of my pets, and others as well. If anyone here wants to post pix of their pets you are more than welcome.

Hi everyone! We have a turtle named Madison and a betta fish named Max. Had to give away my cat Shea because my husband is allergic.

Questions, there is a great deal of experience and knowledge within our forum family. Stop by and introduce yourself. We would all love to hear from you, and if your pet has mastered the keyboard as mine have, now I didn't say they could spell, just mastered the keyboard. The translator doesn't seem to pick up the language either. I'll leave to answer the phone and some of the articles I have written have been edited by pets! Share your stories we are looking forward to it!

In my home, I'm currently owned by 3 cats, Eeyore(tabby) and Tigger(calico tabby mix) who are sisters, and Rufus(tabby) my boy.

I am mommy to a ferret named Toulouse(sable), he will soon have a girl friend.

I also am caretaker for two adorable bettas, who have temporary names, Red Fish and Blue Fish.

My sister has a guinea pig named Twinkie, who is the colour of a twinkie :P a hermit crab, and soon to have a hedgehog!

Toulouse is quite a handful,and I love every minute with him. He is so full of life and happy to be around people.

Eeyore and Rufus get along great, but Tigger isn't a very big fan of Rufus. They're starting to get along, but still fight a bit.

Toulouse has mastered the keyboard, although, as Diana said, I don't have a translator to understand what he's telling me and everyone he types to.

Eeyore has developped a liking for my fish, which is hard to keep up with, but funny at times.
Eeyore is also quite the acrobat, in our dining room, we have a shelf where my mother keeps her Norman Rockwell plates. Eeyore took a running jump from the foyer to the dining room and managed to land safely on the shelf! She has proved to be my only kitty afraid of no height.
Tigger can jump high, but Rufus is unsure of his footing.
We took him in from outside, and the rumour around my neighbourhood was that someone threw him over the fence surrounding our houses. So we think he may have very sore ribs, and he's not fond of jumping. Lately he has taken an interest in trying to follow Eeyore though.

Oh I love ferrets. They are the sweetest animals. I get a kick out of their disabilites after they have had a bath. Or, full speed ahead playing and then they drop off into a very deep sleep. So deep I once thought something had happened to one of my babies. I was holding it and it just hung over my hand. Finally I noticed a slight breath. They he woke up, what are you bothering me for? Ferrets are great!

What kind of turtle, painted are my favorite, then sliders, ah heck I just love turles! Even little snappers. Big ones from a distance. I sat in the middle of my dirt road up in Northern Minnesota watching a big snapper lay eggs in the middle of the road. She was bigger than my tire. I thought how many times I had swam in the lake. My house was on a cliff above the lake. Just beautiful. Had a old boat house below stairs going down to it. Just love to sit down their watching the lake. Very few people on it. Had a public access but most people used Leech Lake just about four miles away from me.

Hm, I am really surprised nobody in this forum boasts of having a snake.

I have had one for 5 months, so truly American, because it is a cornsnake, a common species in the USA.
She is 10 months old now, measures about 2 feet, is orange and brown. She is very shy, doesn`t come out when it is too light, during the day prefers shade and murky hide-outs in her reptile glass cage. I was a little disappointed with that because I wanted to have a snake to hold it in my hands. But I am not going to force her into unwanted physical contact. Maybe when she grows up......
She eats dead baby mice, every week or two. She can eat 3 of them, probably would like more. I get a few dozen frozen mice from the reptile pet store and keep them in the freezer.
It is incredible how she detects these mice with her senses, either the sense of smell or, when I once gave her live mice, sense of vibration or movement. And the process of devouring - unbelievable. I admit I got sick when I saw it first time. But now I love to watch how fast she pulls herself onto a fat mouse.

I have always dreamt of having a snake. I just love all predators, they are so fascinating. My she-snake is a wonderful addition to my two other reptiles: slider turtle and Hermani tortoise, as well as two cats, two mice and a hamster.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned a snake especially a corn snake. Many people have snakes as companion pets. We have a couple of snake articles at exotic pets Bella. I also have had turtles, and had a turtle rescue.

Please tell us more about pet snakes, what they are like and how do you know about their moods ect.. I would especially like to know about personality.

Hm, I guess having a corn snake is a bit ridiculous in the USA. It is like having a grass-snake (Natrix) in Poland.

There are many corn snakes in homes in the US, I got to watch a hatch at a breeders they are so cute and tiny when they emerge! I don't know much about a grass snake.

We have had many pets in the past - but right now we have a fennec fox, a rabbit, 2 golden retrievers, a cat, a golden gecko and a golden hamster. All except the dogs and fox were rescues. That's how we get most of our pets!

That is the best way to get your pets other peoples throw aways, that just breaks my heart thank goodness for people like you. Do you have a picture of the golden gecko? Would love to see one. Please share your pictures with our readers (and me I admit it lol)

Well, I have aquariums, viveriums and a river tank. I started in the aquarium hobby buying a small 10 gallon for my daughter for Christmas in 2003. I now have lots of betta tanks, a couple of community tanks and a river tank setup with a betta in the water and 2 red bellied newts on the land part.

My exotic pets however...are my poison dart frogs ! Love these little guys..they are SOOOOO cute ! No, they are not poisonous. PDFs get thier poisons from a certain type of ant they eat in the wild. When captive bred and raised they do not develope this poison. A wild caught frog will eventually loose the poison.

I have a snake! He's a red-tailed boa, and he's just a baby yet, only 17" or 18". My husband and I used to have a mated pair of red-tails that were 6' each. They are very docile creatures, and even our 5 year-old son could hold them without worry of being squeezed. We had to find them another home when we had a house fire. My favorite snakes are ball pythons. They just seem to have such a sweet nature, even compared to red-tails. And they don't get as big, lol.

We also have a leopard gecko, 4 emerald swifts, 1 anole (with the swifts) 2 White River crayfish, 1 blue immunis crayfish, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a finch (cat killed his mate) <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Sadly, I'm not sure we'll be keeping the cats. They're VERY bad, and have killed too many of my tiny babies, and eaten all my houseplants.

My favorite pets are my hermit crabs! I have a nice 55 gallon tank and 7 (right now) hermies. I drove 2 hours in the dark on a rainy night just to get two of my favorites, my Strawberry crabs Tank and Dozer. It hurts my heart when pet stores tell people they can live alone in a cold, dry, tiny plastic box with no saltwater or sand to bury in. Come on, really--who wants to live like that?

And most people don't realize that hermit crabs aren't bred in captivity. All the crabs you see in petstores and shopping malls have been taken from a beach somewhere. The stress on their little bodies is immense, and about 7 of every 10 die before they even get to the store to be sold. I try to adopt or rescue any hermies that people don't want or can't take care of properly.

Found this site via the SkunkHaven award and delighted to meet fellow petkeepers. Since obtaining a husband with an allergy my pet keeping has been restricted (might be better to ditch the husband) but we are currently owned by a large Tabby cat Snufkin who is senior pet, Seven ferrets in residence (all colours and ages, Onslow, Sparky, Jack, Gert, Daisy, Desmond & Morris) with 'holiday visitors' and rehomers staying occasionally, 43 giant African land Snails, four Corydoras catfish and a mixed bag of small tropicals. in the past I have also had rats, mice, most species of hamster, gerbils, an iguana, sun beetles, giant and fire millipedes, a praying mantis, land hermits, guinea pigs, and tortoises. Hmm, maybe my husband is right I had too many creatures. I am currently a skunk's 'auntie' and am saving up for one of my own but they are very expensive here and I am learning all I can first because there are only a few expert vets in the country if your skunk gets sick. I am besotted with my furry 'nephew' but our cat would be so jealous if we had a newbie in the house, so skunky won't be arriving yet. Maybe I can sneak in a few invertebrates when my husband isn't looking...

Hi! My name is Janeice and I also have a zoo. I have a dog that I delivered his name is Lobo, I have a finch and a cockatiel named Sly, a pair of Peach faced lovebirds named Heeclif and Gertrude and they have a 6 weeek old baby. I have a poland rabbit thats name is Splash and 55 gallon fish tank with african cichlids and a 75 gallon with assorted cichlids. A horse whose name is Lakota. I feel very blessed that my husband allows me to have all of my animals. They are all a treat to watch and to learn from. It is nice to beable to find out about others and what animals they have. I have 3 cats, 2 outdoor and 1 indoor. Now one of the outdoor has decided she wants to ba an indoor. YOu can't go outside without her darting in. I think it is because a possum has decided to join our famly at nite. Quite a site to see the cats eating with the possum! Anyone want a pet possum???

Currently we have 6 dogs (three of which are 10 month old puppies of on of the other dogs), 2 budgies, 3 cockateils, 1 kakariki, 2 goldfish, 1 Japanese weather loach and a pony. We also look after another 5 ponies for our local Riding for the Disabled branch and I'm about to get two gerbils that a colleague doesn't want.

We live with Pico, my English Cocker Service Dog; Jack, a huge old grey Flemish Giant rabbit; and Mike, my approximately 20# cat. They are all about the same size. Pico and Mike are both rescues. Pico lives whereever I am, Jack has run of the back yard and the back porch (where we hang out daily in all weather), and Mike goes in and out. They all get along amazingly well. When we first got Mike, he tried stalking Jack and Jack turned around and stalked him. Mike and Jack now share the litterbox on the porch - though they both also use the yard. All three of them share the outdoor water bowl. We also had a chincilla for a week this fall - it got lost from the neighbors a few blocks away - luckily we found her family.

As a child, I had lots of lizards and a water garter snake. I'd love to have a snake again, but I seem to always live with people who don't like snakes. Plus, I'd really like a boa and having rabbits and a boa isn't necessarily a good mix.

I have a chinchilla, 2 ferrets, 3 sugar gliders, and a bearded dragon.

I'm also planning on getting more chinchillas, gliders, and cockatiel to add to the crew!

I heard awhile ago that Dawn dish washing liquid kills fleas very well and is non toxic. The regular Dawn not the antibacterial kind or various other varieties on the market.

When finished washing rinse well warm water and as a final rinse use a cup of white vinegar and 2 cups warm water to make sure all soap is out of the fur.
