Gidgit,
If you like, email me at
cindyaw1975@hotmail.com as it will be easier to answer your questions etc. I will keep checking back here anyway though.
I live in Australia and have been scrapping for about 2 years (I think ??). I started by collecting some papers and cardstocks, and other bits-and-pieces, and went from there. I learn as much as I can from the internet, and have joined a few forums (including here) where I go for advice, inspiration, encouragement, and best of all - friendship.
Scrapbooking is a really addictive hobby, but it is also very rewarding. While I may not creat layouts that are to everyone's appeal, I am pleased with what I do, and that it all that matters. There are SO many wonderful products and techiques that it is all quite overwhelming at times, but just go at your own pace and you'll be fine.
Are there any scrapbook stores local to you where you could attend a few classes ? I never went to any myself as I am quite shy in that regard. If I had had a friend to go with I would have gone. My only scrapping friends are ones I have met on the net, though I have converted my Mum LOL.
Get yourself a few magazines, or browse the internet galleries and look at layouts to get some ideas. There are loads of sketches that you can use as a starting point to deisign your layouts. I have the links to some, but can't remember them offhand - I'll get back to you. Feel free to scraplift or copy other people's work. It is totally acceptable, so long as you remember to credit the original artist if you upload your layouts to the internet or have them published.
Anyway, I will hear from you again soon.
Good luck !!
Cindy
