whew, I am sill trying to figure this one out myself.

I have read that if you have an epson printer and use epson paper, you get the best quality, and longest lasting pics....

not that that helps me any....I have an HP, and some off brand paper. but thats what i've read.

I need to find out this stuff! this is what forums are good for! LOL

Our digital camera is fairly old and not high quality (dont know the resolution), but we print our photos as follows:

> download pics from camera to pc
> open pics in Adobe Photo Shop (think it might be Adobe Photo Delux actually)
> clean up the photo as necessary (adjust contrast, brightness etc)
> crop as necessary
> resize
> export to new JPG file
> print on photo paper
> leave for AT LEAST 24 hours to dry completely before scrapping, and if you use a cutting system, put a piece of paper over the photo before aligning and cutting to stop the photo sticking to the cutter

My only big suggestion is to NEVER save over the original pic from the camera, because if you crop too much off or whatever, you cant go back !

We are considering saving all the pics we want to print to, a cd and then taking the cd to the photo shop to have them print them, as photo paper and ink are so expensive ! (colour ink for our HP printer is about AU$70 per cartridge).

I'll let you know how it goes once we get some printed this way.

Hope this helps ? If you have any more questions just ask <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I use a Canon S820 printer. I'm not sure if in the US it is called the same or not. What I'd like to know is hw to calibrate comp., printer and scanner so that the colors I get on print resembles what I see on the screen. I have checked out the net for this info. but considering that I'm a comp. dummy, it's sometime like I'm reading Chinese <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I've never calibrated the pc/scanner/printer, or looked into doing it. My pics have always come out fine. If you find out, be sure to share !
