Hello everyone,

I have a Tarot deck and I'm interested in learning how to use these cards and possibly use them to predict the future. My deck is the most known deck (so I was told). The Rider-Waite Tarot Deck. Thanks!

Blessed Be,
Josh

Thanks Fiona. I was looking in the Tarot part of Bella, but I was quite sure what to start with. Thanks again!

it is important to remember that the tarot is not something that is used to "predict the future"; it is more like a tool to show you the way things will continue to go at its current state. by shuffling the cards, you infuse it with your energy and the energy of the situation. that is why when i read for other people, i let them shuffle the cards whilst meditating on their question. when you use the tarot, just keep in mind that your personal readings revolve around how you feel about anything at that time. try to read when you are calm or have been meditating. this will allow you to focus more on your query and channel your energies better.
in my belief, the tarot will tell you how your situation will end up at its current state. that means that you can change your future with decisions, because the future is a many-forked road and the path you chose will lead to different outcomes. this is why the tarot is so helpful...it allows you (with much practise) to see a situation before you and help you chose which path is best.
dont expect to become an expert in a few days. this will take a very, very long time. the good thing is that you can practise and study and you dont even have to spend a great amount of time per day on it. its a journey, not a destination
enjoy the tarot, just dont use it as a crutch

i wish you many great outcomes!

Excellent Advice, Sthenno!

Tarot are no different than any other mystical or spiritual tool we might use to explore the depths of our beings. It takes time to digest the energy of each individual card and then to meld them together to bring forth meaning.

That is one reason I am beginning the Tarot Primer - it started with the descriptions of each of the four suits,...the male and female energies and will continue on to feature each individual card of the Major and Minor Arcana.

I totally agree with you that the Tarot is not meant to tell your "fortune". It actually deals with time as it truly is - a manmade concept, there is no real division between past-present-future. All exist simultaneously. Rather, it highlights the archetypical energy that is manifesting in our current field and points out potential interactions and influences.

Hi Josh!

I just finished reading (and reviewing) a wonderful book called What Tarot Can Do For You - Your Future In The Cards. The review can be found here: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art20498.asp This would be an excellent starter book in how to use the cards, as well as reading them intuitively...much like a story. I highly recommend it!

Blessed Be,
Josh

The magic store where I got my Rider-Waite deck, Gwendolinda's (formerly Crow Haven Corner), Gwendo, the shop owner, told me to help start out is to pick a card and turn it face up and try and get a feel of what the card means. Is that a good starting point with practicing Tarot?
