I just finished my first cable knit scarf, and as I was blocking, I noticed that I dropped a stich in the middle of the piece. For whatever reason I didn't catch it until after the whole thing was bound off and drying on my table. It hasn't unravelled, but was wondering if there's a way to secure the stich without undoing the scarf back to the mistake... any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!!

I've done this before- I picked up the loop with a spare yarn, did a small knot to prevent the loop from unravelling, and wove the ends of the spare yarn into to the rest of the knitwork. This was on a dog sweater, and the pulling up of the dropped stitch simply looked like a natural decrease-- and after many times putting it on and taking it off of the dog, washing it, etc-- the stitch has not come loose.

Thanks for the suggestion, that sounds like it'll work great. I'm still kicking myself for not noticing the dropped stich until I was finished with the project, but I'm glad it can be saved.

Yes that is about the only thing you can do rather than take it apart. I bet you can't even see it and only you will know it is there.
