Has anyone here purchased yarn from eBay? If you have, would you be so kind to tell me about your experience with your transaction?

I read a few knitting blogs, and it seems a lot of knitters are purchasing eBay yarn. Many are happy, and many pay a lot ($35 for 24 oz of cotton yarn) from some of the sellers there.

I'm curious as to if anyone here has taken the eBay plunge!

I have never bought yarn but I have bought and sold other things. Every once in a great while you will get a "bad" seller (has happened to me once)and thankfully I didn't loose alot of money but I lost it. Just be very careful, read the persons feedback and if they have any negative comments, see what they are. If the comments say, didn't get the right stuff, never received etc etc. then I would say you would be taking a risk buying from that seller. Basically just use good judgement.

I love ebay. I've had good experience buying and selling. I definitely decide who to buy from based on feedback comments. Also, I set a maximum bid when I put in my first bid. It's easy to get carried away in those final minutes. It's also a good idea to wait til the last day of the auction to bid.

I've never bought yarn though.
Good luck!

I've bought and sold yarn many times on ebay, and have had nothing but good results. The only glitch I've run into is when I have bought from someone in the States (I'm Canadian), and things have sometimes got held up at the border. Nothing to do with the buyer/sellers though.

The best advice I can give is to checkout the feedback for anyone you are thinking of buying from-that's the best indicator of what they are like to deal with. Maybe start with a small item, and go from there. I've gotten some great deals at ebay, so give it a try!

I've bought Addi turbo's on Ebay and was really happy. DH has bought antique car parts.

At Knitwerx, we are changing our yarn selections to Name Brand (Debbie Bliss, Rowan, etc.) at discounted prices. I'm purchasing lots of discontinued colors or overstocks. How about checking us out some time?
