Has anyone worked with eyelash yarn? I thought for fun I would make a scarf...its the latest thing....started but finding it very hard to work with. How do you see what you are doing? it all looks the same. Then I trid to rip & not like regular yarn you can take the whole thing off the needle...tried this and couldnt find any stitches so had to rip the entire thing out and start all over again. Any hints as to how to handle this. The pattern is just sts.

Make sure that you are using a larger size needle, don't pull it tight, and take your time. You have to take it a little slower with the fancy yarns. Hope this helps.

The original pattern calls for 22 stitches on #11 needle doing stockinette st and 3 knit stitches at each end so it wont curl. I was told to forget about doing anything other than all knit because you cant see the pattern anyway. Would this make any difference in the gauge or does gauge matter in a scarf? Also would using a larger size needle make the knitting easier or would there be too much space between the stitches causing them to look like holes. Eva...Thanks so much for your help as usual

The first time I used eyelash, I must have ripped out the first 8 rows at least five times. Then I "got it," and haven't had a problem since. As Eva said, there are free patterns for Fun Fur at http://www.lionbrandyarn.com -- the scarves use anywhere from size 10.5 to size 35 needles. You won't see the stitches (or any holes) because the eyelash fills them out, so I wouldn't bother with anything other than garter stitch (knit every row). Gauge doesn't matter -- just knit as wide & as long as you want. If you really love your pattern, divide 22 (the number it said to cast on) by the number of stitches the gauge gives for one inch, and that's how wide to make your scarf.
