Hi, I just learned how to use dpns. I am about 3/4 done on a circular dishcloth. But for ans.prayer it would be in a bag in the closet, seriously. I am knitting with 5 needles and now that its getting bulkier and has point protecters on the ends of the needles, it is very awkward to handle. this winter I learned to felt a grey tote with eyelash yarn in the last 4 inches at the top and designed a purse that I knit with Lamb's Pride in a wonderful teal color. Never have I had a purse I enjoyed more. Any tips about using dpns would be most welcome. Maggie Ann

You can transfer the project onto circular needles or just add another double point to it. I usually keep 8 dp of the same size because sometimes I just don't want to put it onto a ciruclar.

Hi Eva, thanks for the help. If I go with the circular needle, do I just knit it off and continue going around untill completed? I am too new at this to try to add another dpn. The pattern is a flower type dishcloth, with 8 points, and seed stitch inbetween the points. Maggie Ann

Yes, here is how I do it. once you pass your marker about 5 or so stitches stop and carefull put those finished stitches onto the circular, now start using the circular needle to knit taking the stitches off of the dpn as you go until all the stitches are worked off the dpn. be careful of your marker, don't loose it. Good luck.

Hi Eva, I did transfer my dishcloth to the circular and it worked out nicely. when I bound off I knitted over the k st and p on the p st and ended up with the last row, neat, but starting to have a ribbing look instead of the seed st. It still turned out great, I am happy with it :-) thankyou for the help!! a question, with the work on 4 needles, and say 28 st on a needle ( 8 sections) 2 sections on each needle, how would I have divided that to have added another dpn? also I took the quizz and am bamboo---me to a "t" I enjoyed that quizz :-)

I will try an explain hopefully not confuse you. You would have 26 stitches on each needle, and if necessary you could put a marker to keep your place of each section. Does that make sense ?
