Anyone know of an online English genealogy site? I'm searching pre-1605 Essex, England for a certain name. Traced the male side of the family back to Essex in 1605. Any genealogy site free on the Internet like that to search for Essex?

Although it doesn't relate to what you're looking for specifically, it can trace your ancestral genes by thousands of years. I've used a MTDNA (motherline) search and found who my ancestral mother was 10,000 years ago. There is also a DNA test via surname search, a new "tribes of Britain" test and one for Y-chromosone (fatherline) and these are found under the site's shop.
