I love having a wireless laptop, it means I can head out into the backyard if I want and write things there. I love writing in nature, by a river or pond, out with the birds. It seems to make it so much easier for me to write ...

I like to write in the backyard on my laptop too- unfortunately I got frustrated with the wireless set-up and the cost- I had not gotten the right information when I called to order, so I only ended up getting 2 of the 3 parts that I would've needed and they hadn't told me up front how much it would cost to add this "home network" until I had finished paying for my order, so I just ended up deciding to send it all back. Maybe I'll give it another try sometime, I've read your posts about how nice it works out for you.

I am an old-fashioned writer - I enjoy choosing a notebook filled with blank, beautiful paper and browsing the pen aisle at Wal-Mart. eek LOL. Most of my writing starts with a dream or passing thought. I develop the storyline and characters curled up in my window seat (while it rains) or out on my porch.

When the story really starts to roll (and my hands and wrists are killing me), I head to the computer. I transfer my notes and outline and REALLY tear up the keyboard.

I typed for most of my professional career and, when inspiration is high, I type around 125 wpm IF I have the words!!!! When I write at the pc, I am totally "zoned out" to all that is going on in the room, the house, the neighborhood. I am sure a fire truck could pull up in the drive and I would not notice.

My husband and son have to stop me to eat.....As the story climaxes and ends, I walk away for a few days before I edit. So, after all that - my answer is, I write everywhere and just about at anytime using pen/paper AND PC!!!

I haven't used a pen and paper in a long time. I do have a few notebooks but it really does kill my hand to write with them for long. Of course my wrists are sore from all the mousing I do, but it seems to take longer for that to get to the point that I have to call it quits

I also find that the more web-writing I do (i.e. content) the less spontaneous creative writing I do. I used to write lots of poetry each month. But now I think I use up all my writing energy on regular articles, so I rarely if ever do poetry.

I like dictating late at night when I can't sleep and all I can do is think, then the stories come. I then give them to someone else to transcribe. It gives me the time to back away from it and then edit when I am clear of mind.

You know I could be just like you

I could be fake
I could be stupid
You know I could be just like you

you thought you were standing beside me
you were only in my way
you're wrong if you think that i'll be just like you
You thought you were there to guide me
you were only in my way
you're wrong if you think that i'll be just like you

Hey Kitty, how fast do you transcribe? I work with another company, powerprose.com, and they listen to the live stock result broadcasts that companies do each quarter. The ones where they go over their financial results and give how the last quarter went. Are you the kind of transcriber that can keep up with things live, or is that a different kind?
