Low-cost flights will begin this week between the UK and the Polish cities of Warsaw and Krakow.

Budget carrier Centralwings, which is a subsidiary of the Polish airline LOT, is to fly between Gatwick and the Polish bases.

It is anticipated that there will be six flights a week, using Boeing 737s.

Air Polonia previously operated six routes from Stansted Airport, but suspended flights last December.

Air Polonia had only run flights for a year, and flew from Stansted to Warsaw, Katowice, Poznan, Gdansk, Bydogoszcz and Szczecin.

The airline was the first domestic rival to LOT.

I just got up on a web site yesterday and they quoted me $2100 round trip.......I about flipped!

I can see the cheaper way would be find the cheapest from US city to UK.........and then fly into Poland from there.

THANKS TO ALL FOR THIS INFORMATION AS I AM PLANNING MY RETURN FOR NEXT FALL.......AND WOULD LIKE TO START AIRLINE PRICING.

If there is another cheap way...from US to ?? please let me know.........

My husband and I did take the flight from Warsaw to Rome on our return - LOT - wonderful - I also heard the flight from Milan to Poland excellent and of course good prices from US to Milan.

And if I may - a plug for the rent a car company Le Car Rental in Warsaw.....outstanding - they treated us like royalty - including a cell phone for the six weeks.........when we return will go the same car rental........

hi Lily - I am flying to Poland in April with Sky Europe, a Slovakian airline.

they do flights from manchester to krakow or warszawa and from london to warszawa for as low as �9 ($16) if you book early enough.

my flights worked out as �49 ($88) from manchester to krakow, and �29 ($52) for the return flight.
