It is not known if the missing became victim of the huge waves or if the left the country by Ferryd to India, or that they are wondering around somewhere on Sri Lanka.
Most likely is that they have died with other Western tourists and the fishermens families who live on the beach. They are the poorest people, and that's why they live on the beach. rondzwerven.
The official officieel amount of registered dead after the seaquake and the floodwave counts to 68.000, and the figure is growing.

Jaga, being of the devestation of such a magnitude, Chanceller Gerhardt Schroeder has authorised a military hospital aircraft to be flown there.

By the news, the death number just seems to rise for each day as new bodies are located. It appears that the authorities are using mass burial for health safe guarding. It would be a good guess, that later after the situation is stable. Identification would be made of the dead.

One Pole Confirmed Dead, 56 Missing
29.12.2004

One Pole has been confirmed dead and 56 are missing after the huge tidal waves struck Thailand and other southern Asian countries at the weekend. The body of the man was identified in Thailand, where three other Poles were also probably killed as a result of the disaster. A total of 40 had turned up at the Polish embassy in Bangkok, while six had reappeared out of 14 reported missing in Sri Lanka. Several hundred Poles are estimated to have been in the region at the time of the earthquake. The Polish government has earmarked 250, 000 thousand euros in aid for the victims.
The head of the Polish Episcopate archbishop Jozef Michalik has appealed to all people of good will to help the families of the victims of the tragedy. The collection in Polish churches on Sunday, January 9, will go for this purpose.

Poland Sends Humanitarian Aid Plane To Sri Lanka
30.12.2004

Poland is sending humanitarian aid plane to Sri Lankas capital of Colombo today. It will include medications, bandages and drip liquid. The aid was compiled thanks to the contributions of the Polish government which has earmarked 340 thousand USD for the purchase of medicines, and several Polish charity organizations. According to Elżbieta Lipska from the Polish Humanitarian Mission, Poland decided to send aid to Sri Lanka specifically because there were concrete requests for help coming from that country. She added that Sri Lanka is one of the poorest countries in the region with second biggest number of tsunami victims. So far confirmed deaths from Asia's tsunami catastrophe have pushed past 100,000, with experts predicting much worse to come as the world's biggest ever relief operation stuttered into life against enormous odds.

I find it terrible that there are so many young children are killed. Less than 1 year old babies, little children from 2, 3, 4, 5 and six year old. Children missing their parents,
and parents missing their children.
The terrible images continue to come.
Nationality, culture or religion does not matter,
I am sorry for all those children and parents, the dead and the living, the Indonesians from Aceh(Muslim), the people from Sri Lanka (Buddhist, Hindu and Muslim), Thailand (Buddhist and Muslim), India and the foreigners, Swedes, Germans, Poles, Americans, Israeli's, Duch, Belgians, Danes,
Norwegians, Fins and etc. Every human being, every life counts.
In Sri Lanka we see soldidarity between people who were fighting eachother for decades, buddhists, hindu's and muslims side by side. Pray fro the children, pray for the parents who lost a child, and pray for the children who lost their parents, and for the poor fishermen populations in those countries who lived on the beach.

I hope that we may not forget them, like with many disasters, when the news is over, we forget them. Spend mony on Doctors Without Borders or the Red Cross.

And I did not forget Bam (Iran), Turkey and Sudan. I hope that the world and the many rescue organisations (NGO's) keep on doing there work in all those regions (especially when they are forgotten by the Western pressm and people).

Israelis killers of innocents? Led by a war criminal? American media biased in favor of Israel?

http://www.honestreporting.com/articles/45884734/critiques/Israeli_Aid3_Unreported.asp

Israeli Aid, Unreported

All major media outlets ignore Israel's massive humanitarian aid to South Asia - an indication of a national ethos of caring.

When disaster strikes anywhere in the world, Israelis can be counted on to help. So it's no surprise that within hours of the devastating tsunami in the Indian Ocean, the following humanitarian missions all departed from the tiny Jewish state:

IDF rescue team on its way to Sri Lanka
? The Israeli organization Latet ('To Give') filled a jumbo jet with 18 tons of supplies.
? A medical team headed by four doctors from Jerusalem's Hadassah Hospital arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday night (Dec. 27), carrying medicine and baby food. The doctors specialize in rescue operations, trauma and pediatrics.
? An IDF rescue team is now on its way to Sri Lanka with 80 tons of aid material, including 10,000 blankets, tents, nylon sheeting and water containers, all contributed by the IDF.
? A ZAKA rescue-and-recovery team arrived in the disaster areas Monday night, armed with its specialized equipment for identifying bodies.
? A Health Ministry contingent left for Thailand on Monday night to aid in rescue efforts. The group includes doctors, nurses and four members of the IDF.
? Israel has also offered its assistance to India ? a search-and-rescue team from the Home Front Command, as well as consignments of food and medicine.
Yet, with the exception of UPI (as of this writing - Tues. 4pm EST), none of the major news outlets have dedicated an article to this remarkable Israeli humanitarian effort. This, despite the fact that the IDF sent all Israel-based journalists a press release Monday evening (Dec. 27), inviting them to the airport to cover the departure of one IDF group.
This is all the more surprising given the fact that the major news agencies have entire teams of reporters in Israel, who submit at least one 'Israel-article' each day.
So what did the Associated Press send out today to its 15,000 subscribing news agencies? A dreary story about the construction of a new IDF base near Jenin. AP sarcastically remarked in this 'news' story that the base's 'elaborate color scheme and landscaping shows that the army is not planning to pull its forces out of the area anytime soon.'
The lack of media interest in this Israeli humanitarian effort means that Israeli benevolence toward other peoples is not fairly conveyed to the western world. Perhaps if it were conveyed, observers would come to understand something else ? that Israel's response to Palestinian violence is also motivated by the highest ethical concern for all human life, and is not (as the media so often portray it) driven by an oppressive, mean-spirited national ethos.
HonestReporting encourages subscribers to write a letter to your local paper, praising the massive Israeli humanitarian mission to South Asia ? which the major media have apparently deemed 'not newsworthy.'
Thank you for your ongoing involvement in the battle against media bias.
