ETA now knows how to get the attention of the Spanish public. We can now look forward to more bombs being set off in Spain by other groups. In the meantime I was hit by a Weapon of Mass Destruction; a virus jumped out of my computer and hit me, the effects hit without a fever and I am still feeling a bit under the weather.
In other news, a US Prosicuter has put a dent into Driveby Flower arrainging with the "successful" prosicution of M. Stewart. I guess keeping a nice home is more of a threat then gangsters and terrorists.

Bob, hope you feel better. M. Stewart is a diversion. Carl

terrorism is not strong enough to overthrow a country, however it is now at the forfront of protest - meaning that it will be used more often by more groups to "send a message"

thats my short take, the problem arises when terrorism sparks a conflict between two countries rather than osama vs. the USA...maybe my first thought was to soon, well it can also spark conflict within a country...truthfully, im less worried about 200 or 2000 dead than an entire country in anarchy. kind of talked myself in a circle there but at the least, terror will become a more popular form of protest. in part do to our reaction to 9/11.

these are just thoughts for the moment.

I don't think the new government in Spain will last long and it's popularity may well sink when more bombs go off and more bodies litter the streets. Terrorism only knows one type of reaction or response and that is "brute force".
You cannot reason with people who are willing to commit murder to get their way and perhaps those terrorists will not get the response they expect. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

well now, lets say that Spain reacted by invading Algeria or Lybia, or egypt in the name of pre-emptive war on terrorism, is that warrented? is that appropriate use of brute force?

I wanted to vote in the poll but there was at least one answer too few to chose:

Europeans should seriously re-consider and withdraw from American war on terror

Another perspective from a forum:
That's what I always heard from Grandpa (about Spain). More the type to look death in the eye than run from it (like bull fight).
Spain has been vigilant in breaking ETA who they still have not ruled out aiding this bombing.
this a from a Spain newspaper, the writer seems to think even if their country had not gone to Iraq another reason would have been found by the terrorists for the bombing.
