Hi, my friend just had a baby and the baptism is this weekend. Could anyone help me find some info on Polish baptism (if any).

Thank You

Hi Irishgal,

I have been to baptism of all nationalities. None appear to be much different than the other.

I believe the Irish will have the same tradition as the Polish. Be very reverent in church. Raise holy hell and have a good time later at home. viking :rolling:

The ritual is that the baptism goes as usual, and then both godfather and godmather often with their families are invited to a drinking dinner which usually ends in the early hours of the following morning... The ladies are then supposed to drive their men home.

ajarmoniuk ,

Thank you and welcome to our friendly community.

As you can see, we try to remain true to our 'Polish
Culture' topics but it doesn't always work. However, the closer to the source of true information we can get the better off we are. So, as you are in Warsaw we welcome you with open arms. viking :rolling:

Irishgal,

I believe just like the rest of people here that Polish baptism is not much more different of the baptism everywhere else. Somehow I remember that girls have somethink pink on and bouys - blue but on the other hand - the baby in white is also good. The priest in Poland does not give you a baptism shirt to put on the baby like here in the USA.
Every child has one godmother and one godfather. People do not drink usually that much as another person suggested. They may drink during wedding party but not after baptism ceremony.

Thank you so much for your imput. It does sound like the Irish ritual, Bless yourself and then drink :-). Ok, one last question, how do I say "welcome to our world beautiful Isabella in Polish". If you could post before tomorrow I'd appreciate it.
Again, Thanks

Witamy sliczna Izabele na naszym swiecie!

pronunciation should be something like that:
Vitamy slitchnou Izabele ("e" like in Elizabeth)
na nashim sivietsie

I hope everything will be well!
