OK Justs whos bright idea was it?

My husband did it again. He got me started on a project and I am not sure what I got myself in for. I don't usually get myself into this much of a jam in such a short period but I did today.

We are taking our 1969 Porsche to a show on the 9th of June. He asked me if I could make a quilt with a picture of the car on it to bring and sit on while we over look the Pacific Ocean. I of course said Yes not realizing it was in a couple of weeks. So while I was out today I bought the fabrics that I didn't have enough of here at home.

What I want to do is make the sky transition into some green rolling hills with a block of some short in the top upper R corner in sun colors like a sunrise maybe and then put the car (white of course) on the hills and the word porsche in the upper left sky? what do you think? Does that sound feasible? Oh I don't know what I am doing. I did wash my fabrics however. SO I do learn new stuff.

Help!!!! Please???? Jean eek eek eek

Jean, take a deep breath! Of course you can do what you're visualizing! Easy as pie! Break it all down into smaller steps and just dive in. What do you need help with to start you off?

I have no advice but I am sure it will be wonderful. The hardest part is getting a picture it in your mind. After that its just a transfer to a median we can all enjoy. I can't wait to see it when it is done. I am sure you'll do just fine and probably learn a few new things along the way.

OK I woke up at 2am and then drew out a picture and colored it with crayons. It doesn't look half bad. I tried to convince him he just wanted a wall hang but no... "I need something to lay on" right...

I am going to try kind of string quilting sort of. I bought a big sheet of muslin that I am going to lay it out on. Never done it before but I kind of wanted the look of paper piecing so what the heck. I will keep you posted.

OK I havemade good progress, the porsche show was yesterday and I actually had enough done to bring it. Only thing is, I think it will go under the heading of "My ugliest quilt!" Boy it is ugly however I had fun making it and learned a lot. The most important thing I learned is to say NO! to my hubby. He is always giving me ideas and I have ideas of my own. As soon as I get the courage to take a picture of this monstrosity I will post it. Perhaps I should put it in for the uglist contest.

Well, post a picture and let us see already.

I love to see everyone's quilts. I am sure it can't be that bad. I bet it is great and you are just being modest.

I want to see it too! I love seeing what others have done - it is amazing how many times I will say "gee, why didn't I think of something like that?".
