I am using a Brothers embroidery machine and have some patterns that call for applique. I am new to this process and don't know anything or very little about the steps to doing it using a machine.

Applique is a very easy technique - basically it's applying shapes to the fabric.

You can get applique webbing which makes things very easy.

To do applique:

1. Cut out the shape you need out of the fabric you choose

2. Iron on the applique webbing (this is like double sided fusable interfacing) and then iron the piece to the project where you want it.

3. Using the satin stitch function on your machine, stitch around the edges of the shape, thereby sewing it to the other piece of fabric.

Applique is really easy and is a great way to enhance your machine embroidery - or any type of embroidery!
