Hi. I am trying to find a better way to transfer embroidery designs onto the material that I am using. I have tried photocopying my designs onto transparencies and then using a dull needle to trace the design over dressmakers transfer paper, carbon paper graphite paper. This works well for large designs, but not for fine detail. I have looked at stuff that you can run through a printer and then iron on, but the iron on includes all of the backing material, whereas all I want are the lines. I have even tried printing out my design with a laser printer and then iron that onto my material - it works better than you might think, but again, not so well, especially for dark fabric. Any other thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi - what I do when I want to transfer a redwork or other embroidery pattern to fabric is to tape my pattern to a window, then tape my fabric over that, and use the window as a "lightbox".

Hope this helps! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
