Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anybody here is reading/doing the exercises and following the Dr. Phil programme? I'm reading the book right now and find it to be very helpful. Anyone?

I love Dr. Phil and programs like his work because they address the real issues of weightloss. People overeat due to emotional turmoil and stress. I see it every day with clients and members who write me. If you address these issues chances are you will automatically lose weight. Jorge Cruise the 8 min. guy also addresses this in all his books and his clients are super successful at weightloss because of it. Programs like this are becoming the norm and replacing fad diets that only work short term. It's a new weightloss trend that's here to stay. <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> What's your favorite part of the book so far?

Hi Morgaine! I just joined BellaOnline as I am looking for fellow travellers on the weight loss journey. I have read the Dr. Phil book and am a HUGE Dr. Phil fan; my copy is actually loaned out at the moment. I am around 300 lbs, with weight issues all my life, so I know the struggle. Tomorrow I move towards daily 30-45 minutes of cardio - walking or step aeorbics. I have started walking more and feel much, much better. No real weight loss (not following any food plan), so I am here to support ya, girl! Keep at it!

Hi All,

I totally agree that other factors, especially stress lead to overeating. In fact, I wrote a book about it with an MD. It's called, De-Stress Weigh Less a Six-Step No Diet Plan for Relaxing Yourself to Permanent Weight Loss. (You can find it at www.amazon.com)

I've also written an article about it on my holistic health bellaonline web site at http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art13120.asp
Take a look and let me know what you all think!

Hope this helps!

Best,

Carolyn

I definitely agree that some people overeat due to stress. But many people just eat *poorly* in our current culture because it's "cheap and easy". I get a ton of email from people who eat potatoes and pasta every day (no veggies, nothing else) because it's super fast and cheap. As you can imagine, eating nothing but potatoes and pasta is hardly a nutritious way to live! My grandmother grew up in a time where meal planning was a normal part of life. Meals had all food groups. But nowadays people eat french fries as their vegetable!!

I really think a key to being healthy is exercise, but it's also re-building our connection to healthy food. We need to eat foods that are truly GOOD for us, not things that are "easy".
