I am looking after some plants for a friend. One of the leaves on her Phalaenopsis ochrid is starting to turn yellow.
I was told not to give it too much water so I wait until the soil is dry ( about 8 to 10 days). It is in the same spot it always has been with same heat and light. The blooms look fine in fact another bud is starting to come out. Any suggestions what I can do or not do???
Thanks
ps. she won't be back for another 2 weeks. Will it die before then?

Phals do lose leaves as the leaf matures and dies. The other reason the leaves turn yellow would be crown rot and that is a serious problem. See if your friend has some Physan 20 or Consan 20 spray for her orchids and spray the orchid with this mixture. It contains a fungicide. It will not hurt the plant if there's nothing wrong.

Is it a lower leaf? Phals tend to lose a leaf or two on the underside when they mature. Don't get to stressed about it. It of natures way of 'out with the old and in with the new.

Happy Growing!
