I live in a basement apartment flat in central London, UK and I have a particularly horrible problem - my kitchen is at the back with an exit to the garden (it opens on to a patio with the garden on a raised level) and I have snails and slugs in the kitchen! I haven't actually seen these so I don't know whether it's snails or slugs or both but I know what a snail slime trail looks like and they are getting up onto my ledges in the middle of the night! Fortunately I don't leave food around but snails are hermaphrodite - meaning they can be either sex (but not at will) - and I think they have got in through the washing machine drain and are now living in behind my cupboards where it's nice and dark and cool! Goodness knows what they're living on...

My mother has suggested coffee on the edges of the ledges and at the back where I can see the slime trails but does anyone else have any ideas? (yes I've thought of beer - but slug bait sold in shops is usually for use in the garden and please remember that as I'm in the UK products on sale in the US might be very difficult to get - but I'll try it if you think it'll work!!)

Heeeeelp!

i've never tried it, but I heard if you put down strips of copper, they won't crawl over them, because it gives them a shock. Good luck.
