eBay is raising their fees next month. For many "smaller sellers" there will be a big impact. Many sellers sell items just to get a small profit. With the increasing fees on eBay and PayPal, many smaller sellers could be forced out.

Will this affect you?

See the new fees in this article.

Since they're raising it for the entire network, I think it'd be fair for everybody to raise their prices to match. The end buyers know this is going on and it'll be an across the board change. It's sort of like a state raising its sales tax - that affects all merchants so they all adjust their prices appropriately. So even though I only sell occasionally on eBay, that wouldn't change the way I do it. Their fee is pretty low to start with, I personally feel quite grateful that they even exist <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Lisa,

It is true that eBay has pretty reasonable fees already however, they are clearly oversatured with buyers and as a result many sellers are forced to lower and lower and lower their prices just to compete.

Also, many sellers start their auctions at very low starting prices and as a result higher listing fees will cut into their profit.

Hmmm but if there are too many buyers doesn't that mean that prices are driven up, because so many people are competing for the same item? My boyfriend has been on eBay quite a bit during the past month buying bass guitars, musical equipment, a vac-saver food preserver, a new shaver for himself, a cuisinart and other things too. He loves to shop around and has been doing a ton of price comparisons. He is finding high competition for every item which is driving the prices up higher than usual ...
