With the much publicized incident of blatant eBay Fraud involving the Arizona couple that skipped out with more than $100,000 of bidder's money, some people are wondering if Online Auctions are as safe as the Auction companies would like us to believe.

And, if you were already a skeptic, your suspicions are probably heightened now. Do you think that there is more that Online Auction companies can do to safeguard your purchase? Even though eBay is clear that no transaction is %100 guarenteed, do you think they should have to reimburse bidders who do not receive items that are paid for (when a refund isn't available)? <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

**Also: An eBay user posted a diary of how she was scammed.

Jilly,

I truly agree with you. I love to sell online but I am very selective when I am buying...especially high-priced items.

I've stuck mainly to items under $50 when I bid on something on E-bay. My ex-husband has actually bought a car from them!! The best thing to do, if you're buying a high priced item, is to go with one of the companies that will act as the "go between". They get your check and only when they get the seller's item do they forward the check to the seller and the item to you. I still don't understand how someone could spend $100,000 on E-bay!!!

Marian
