Well my first tattoo I got is a horse head on the middle of my lower back. My second tattoo is waves, and dolphins jumping through the waves around my ankle (both tats realistic looking). Now I'm considering having a very colorful plumeria flower (one of my favorite flowers) design tattooed on my body. I was thinking about having it put on my right shoulder blade area.
Now with my first two tats I never had a doubt in my mind where they would go. They both seemed to just fit that area and I couldn't see them in any other spot on my body. Well with this third one I'm considering it's more versatile, there's many places I could have it tattooed.
This process brought me to my question:

How do you decide where on your body to place your tattoo, and what brought you to that decision?

I'm just curious to hear everyone's experiences. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I find I tend to "see" the design where it's supposed to go. I have tattoos on my shoulders, upper arms, chest and down the center of my torso. I also have a piece on the back of each calf.

Yeah my boyfriend has a sleeve on his left arm and two tats on the outside of each calf. For instance I want to wait until I'm older before I get any tats on my stomach area because I do plan on having kids and there is a good chance that they will get stretched out. I also do try to make sure that if I have to cover them up (say for work) that I can.
LOL when I was about to get to first tattoo my mom said to me "what about when you get married, do you want everyone to be able to see your tattoo". I thought it was the funniest thing because obviously the majority of us who choose to get a tattoo are proud of it and it has a deeper meaning to us personally. I mean who cares what other people think.
Anyways, I like the fact that you can see where you want your tats to go Rae.
