The request for pictures of the fake tattoo on George Clooney in the movie FROM DUSK TILL DAWN has been burning holes in my in-box for some time now. So, presented due to overwhelming popular demand.....

Glad you liked it, Moe!

I think it's so funny that so many people write to me about this, when it's only in the last five minutes (or less) of the movie. And you'd also think that nobody out there had a DVD player. ...LOL...

It's been a while since I've seen the movie but I don't remember it. I recognize the picture with the article though. There's nothing phenomenal about it. While I was there I looked at the Pitt article too and I remember his and thought he looked awesome. Didn't DeNiro have a load of them in Cape Fear? It's unfortunate that the media always seem to portray tatooed people in a negative light. Nice people have tatts too. I watched the charmed ones and I find it amusing how they are all sporting their tats proudly when they use to be covered up with makeup. I'm rambling. hehe.

In movies, traditionally, the bad guy gets all the body art. I'm working on an article on that right now. That sort changed with Vin Diesel and "xXx" although he still was a sort of anti-hero character in that.

DeNiro did have a load of tats in the "Cape Fear" remake. Ralph Finnes in "Red Dragon" got a great back piece as the serial killer in that one.

Socially, the attitude towards tattooing has been slowly but surely changing since the 1960s, when the groundwork for the modern tattoo movement was laid. Basically at that time, you started to get tattooists who had gone to art school, who pursued it the same as painting or illustration.

I have a friend who became a tattoo artist just for that reason, so he could be an artist and actually get paid for it. He has a studio near a college campus and will have been in business on his own a year November.

That's great, Wendy! A lot of college towns have seen tattoo shops and piercing parlors getting established over the last decade.

It used to be that a tattooist had to be in a port town, near lots of sailors to get a large clientele. Part of the reason was back in WWII, the Navy paid the sailors twice a month, whereas the Army and Marines got paid once a month. It would seem the Navy boys had a bit more cash on hand regularly....

I love that movie. I also think this is where George Clooney looks the hottest, maybe it is that he is playing a bad boy (well psychopath really whistle lol) or maybe not grin.
