Hey all,

Just wanted to write and say that my nose piercing, which I posted about a couple of weeks ago, is looking much better after keeping up with sea salt soaks and adding tea tree oil to the regimen. I'm so thankful to Rae for suggesting tea tree oil because I didn't get that advice from the people who did the piercing, and it's seemingly the only thing that is helping my keloidal scar tissue to heal up nicely.

Glad to hear things are healing better for you!

I can't call tea tree oil a "heal all" as there are some folks out there who are sensitive/allergic to it, but that's what worked on my own ear piercing keloids.

The trick for a lot of healing procedures is to try and use the gentlest methods possible, and that's why things like hot salt water soaks work for just about everyone.

Wonderful that you have found a remedy, katie! Where did you find tea tree oil? I'm not sure where I should look.

I've seen tea tree oil in larger, upscale grocery stores in the same sections with first aid or over with toiletries. If not there, natural food stores would have it, or check the larger brand name drug stores.

Yes, it worked! I used tea tree oil on my bump on my navel piercing. After 3 days, it dried up and turned into a scab. I accidentally bumped the scab off, and it became an open sore. My dermatologist friend told me to keep the sore lubricated and covered with a bandaid for a few weeks. After a week, it's gone! I'm thrilled! Thanks for the advice. Life is good!

Now, make sure your navel piercing isn't rubbed too much by your clothing, and make sure the jewelry isn't too tight or too long either. That can be part of the trick to keeping a keloid from reforming.

Thanks for the advice, Rae. No more high waist bands, and no more removing the jewelry. I have learned so much from your forum--if only I had discovered this board earlier! I may not have had the issues I've had to deal with. Glad to have found you!
